Bug has been noted and will be investigated. This has
happened from time to time for no apparent reason. It seems
to be intermittent and very unrepeatable.

I also seem to have a similar problem. Reinstalled the
client a couple of times but nothing happens, just can't see
it. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I am using Office 2003 Full install with all service packs.

Tried installing in different directory and nothing.

Tried reinstalling 3 times and no dice.

I have winxp sp2, with office 2002, then tried 2003 and
    nothing...
I had no problem installing the server though. Rob, perhaps
You could give us a dependencies description, as I'm sure
    I'm missing something.

Please try this and give me some feedback (I think the
inability to see the toolbar may relate to Office security
and the fact that the assembly is unsigned).

    o Open Word
    o Click Tools
    o Click Macros
    o Click Security
    o Select Medium
    o Click Ok

This will give you the option to choose which untrusted
add-ins you want to run - note that you will have the option
to say no to an add-in or macro, so you are still protected.

Then either uninstall and re-install KO or enable it from
    the COM-add in box.

If you uninstall/reinstall, shut down Word and manually
terminate the WinWord.exe process (through the task manager)
if it is still running after you shut down word.

Otherwise just shut down and restart word.

    Let me know ...

Did the suggest security setting with the macro security and
the com-add in and reinstalled and when I go into Com Add-
Ins and click on KnowledgeOffice, below I get the following
    error:

    Locatation: C:\WINDOWS\system32\mscorree.DLL

Load Behaviour: Not loaded. A runtime error occurred during
the loading of the COM Add-in.

Even tried with the lowested security and no go.

I have Windows XP SP2 completely patched with Office 2003
also updated to the more recent patch.

    Hi,

I have the same issue with MS Office 2003 SP3 Dutch. (on Windows XP SP2, UK)
When I install the client, it crashes MS Word.
Checking the COM addin, it seems that this is causing the problem.
When I disable the COM addin, MS Word works fine again.

Adjusting the macro security does not fix it. Even on LOW it crashes word.
Disabling the COM addin is the only thing that works.

    Any suggestions would be nice.

I'll try to re-compile the addin against my system to debug it.
I assume the client core contains all the source code of the client?

    Cheers,

    Roel

Well....after recompiling it with .NET framework 2.0,
resolving some obsolete references and using new office references, it works fine for me ;)
I also used the new mysql dll (http://sourceforge.net/projects/mysqlnet/) since the ByteFX has been taken over by this project. I could not find the ByteFX anyway.

Anyway...I guess you would have to recompile your project against .NET framework 2.0 to make the addin compatible with the latest service packs and windows updates.

    So...I can work.
do you want the new dll's?

    Cheers,

    Roel

so thanks anyway, but I don't need it anymore.
