Hi! Your question is almost 2 years old, so I'm guessing you've found the answer already. If not, the short answer is that Jin 2.14.1 will not work with versions of the JRE above 8 (aka 1.8).

That being said, support for JavaSE 6 was dropped starting with Mojave (10.14), so now Jin is dead from Mojave and onward.

Apple provides support for downloading legacy JavaSE 6 support up through High Sierra (10.13) here: https://support.apple.com/kb/dl1572?locale=en_US

Hello, I'm little confused on the terms of GLPv2 copyright licence. Can I copy and reuse the piece sets (included in Jin source folder) for creating custom chess theme? The pieces would be located on imgur. Is the way you cited the licence terms o this website enugh? Thank you, Marino
