#356 Column Ruler Persistent Line Guides

I routinely edit input files for an executable program in which the file format is fixed width (8 characters per field). I have set up line guides every 8 characters using the Column Ruler plugin (using a color which is faint enough not to bother me when editing other types of text files).
I would like to have the line guides persist across sessions. Could an option be added to Column Ruler to allow for that? Currently I quickly double click on each of the 10 guides to activate them, being careful not to accidentally click slightly off the guide, which attempts to create a new one. Alternately, is there a, or could there be a short cut assigned to activate all of the line guides?
