jEdit will not start. The server file is missing and if I
create it it says this and will not start. It will not start
either when the server file is missing.

The server file should only be created if an instance of jEdit is
already running. You should not create it yourself. Would
you post debug output when you try to launch jEdit without
the server file, and also provide your OS, JRE and jEdit
    version.
