The map generation code was changed to create island-like maps, so that ships can use the water all around the map for transportation. It took a while to polish the map creation code so that it will create mostly usable maps, but finally ships are much more useful now in Simutrans Iron Bite:

Saved games should be compatible at least back to r053. Two small example games are included, using pak64.Crisp. They should help new players to get into the game.
Only some smaller bug fixes for the vehcile depot window this time, and some graphical adjustments in pak64.Crisp
Saved games should be compatibel with r052 and r053.

Following the plans to focus on transport instead of income, a lot of UI dialogs have been adapted to show the amounts of transported goods instead of money. The vehicle depot dialogs got another UI overhaul, and the graphics from pak64.Crisp were touched up in some places as well.
r053 should be able to read saved games from r052, and to some extend also games from r051. Once the biggest changes are done, I will take more care of compatibility again.... read more
Following the plans which started with Simutrans Iron Bite r048, more references to money have been removed. Particularly the vehicle info statistics and the line statistics don't show money related graphs anymore.
Some minor UI improvements for the "New Map" dialog and some updates to pak64.Crisp complete this release.

From r48 on Simutrans Iron Bite is planned to develop into a simpler, more sandbox-like game, without economic pressure on the player. In a first step, many money and finance related aspects have been removed from the game. Also, goods transport is possible between all factories, and there is no chronology anymore, so that all vehicles, buildings and goods are available throughout the game. Games now start in year 1, because it makes no sense to have a "realistic" year number if nothing in the game depends on the number anymore.... read more
The support for larger fonts has now stabilized and many dialog layouts in the game have been adapted to provide enough space for the larger fonts. Still there are more dialogs to adapt, but the game should be playable again, and the larger fonts are easier to read.
The simulation engine now tracks pollution caused by vehicles. Pollution has two effects - polluted city areas will have less inhabitants and therefore generate less passengers, and trees growing in polluted areas will die earlier than usual.
Simutrans Iron Bite r036 got experimental support for slightly larger fonts, whcih should help readability on high resolution screens. A separate download package is offered, since this features most likely still has issues which need to be fixed.
A bug in the pak selector screen was fixed, so that choices of more than three pak sets are now displayed correcty.
pak48.Excentrique saw some corrections for the coil depot, and some additional English and German object description texts.
Simutrans iron Bite r035a got some improvements to the pak selector screen, and a few minor program text improvements. I also had to do some UI code cleanuo again, which might or might not affect stability of this release. I hope it will be fairly stable.
I was told that airport construction was broken in revision 034. This is fixed in r035, at least a first test seemed to work. I have never used airplanes in Simutrans so I can't rally say if it works as intended or if something is still broken.
Also, I've tried to enhance the readability of the cursive font used in pak48.Excentrique. I'm not sure how far I succeeded there, but I think it is a light improvement.
