I added the following to /etc/fstab:
none /mnt/iriver iriver noauto,user 0 0
When I mount /mnt/iriver as ignacio it has the following permissions:
drwxr-xr-x 8 root ignacio 512 Jun 29 07:22 /mnt/iriver
The owner should be ignacio, not root.
