I tried the same patch on my Suse 8.2 Linux with Linux 2.6.9 and
gcc 3.4.2 at home: Works perfectly. I do not know why it does not
on my laptop :(.

I found the problem: I had to delete the .bcast directory, which
contained old files from my previous cinelerra installation. Now it
runs !!!
