User settings

Hathi Download Helper provides a feature to set up default user settings for all downloads.

The user settings dialog is available via menu bar -> User settings

The user settings dialog consists of group boxes which provides the following features and settings:

1. Auto updates groupbox

   • Enable / Disable automatic update check at start-up

2. Book information groupbox

   • Use proxy server:
     Enables / Disables proxy server for internet connection. When enabled all internet request will use specified proxy server connection.
   • Automatic proxy server activation:
     Enables / Disables feature, which automatically activates proxy connection when required.
   • Proxy settings:
     Opens proxy settings dialog.

3. Download settings groupbox

   • Radiobutton "pdfs":
     Downloads book pages as pdf files when selected
   • Radiobutton "images":
     Downloads book pages as image files
   • Checkbox "download OCR text":
     Downloads OCR text for each page
   • Destination folder:
     Sets the standard download folder
   • Automatically create download folder:
     When enabled, HDH will automatically create and use a subfolder as target for the downloaded files. The subfolder will be named either by book ID or by book title.
   • Checkbox "Create pdf book after download":
     When enabled, HDH automatically creates a pdf book from the downloaded files when the download process has finished.
   • Checkbox "Resume download":
     When enabled, HDH will keep already downloaded files when resuming a previous book download. Otherwise HDH will re-download all files and overwrite existing files in the download folder.
   • Checkbox "Enable AutoProxy":
     Enables / Disables automatic proxy connection feature for download process

4. Pdf merge & conversion groupbox

   • Radiobutton "merge pdfs":
     Merges all downloaded pdf files to create a pdf book when selected
   • Radiobutton "convert & merge images":
     Convertes and merges all downloaded image files to obtain a pdf book when selected
   • Radiobutton "convert images to single pdfs files":
     Convertes all downloaded image files to single pdf files when selected
   • Checkbox "use plain text (ocr) only":
     Generates pdf files with text only
   • Checkbox "Keep existing pdf book files with identical name":
     To prevent overwriting of pdf book files with identical name
