Dear HDH users, Thanks to feedback from other users, I've been able to determine the likely cause of the HDH malfunction. The Hathitrust website uses Cloudflare to protect itself from internet attacks. Unfortunately, this also blocks the automated download of the HDH. Due to time constraints, I am currently unable to develop a solution in the foreseeable future. Thank you for your understanding.

This method does work. Unfortunately, it won't give the option to remove the annoying watermarks the way HDH does. I will have to figure out some other way to do that. Thanks for the information though!

Try an add-on for FIREFOX (above v.115) See the attachment - It is good for the Internet Archive and HATHI . In HATHI, on the left side of the selected record, click the DOWNLOAD box under the topic "AYESHA". You will d-l the file only and not the images.

As Martin wrote, Hathi Trust has changed the API of the website, so HDH is currently no longer functional. I would like to thank the developer of HDH for his work, as I have found HDH very useful over many years, and I very much hope that Martin continues its development.

Dear hdh-creator Can you please bring a new update for the same as it would help a lot of people around here. You can also give an option to add proxy server lists of our own as well.

Handy workaround: Repeat the "Get Book Info" request several times (at least 3 times). Download of images looks like to work. Download of PDFs looks like to work. But: Auto proxy doesn't work. Stop using this feature. Example: https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=mdp.39015082239875

I've downloaded HDH latest available version and it seems it doesn't work well, at least not as good as it used to work. Every time I try to download a book, even an old one (e.g. a 1927 book, "public domain when viewed in the US") HDH says "in copyright" and won't let me download a single page. NOTE: I'm outside the US. Using proxy server seems useless, as it gives the same negative result. Does it need a manual proxy setup? HDH proxy sources are dead? Possible changes in Hathi Trust webpage have...

Very often the application it closes suddenly, right after it finds a good proxy and should start downloading.. How do you remove the watermark from the Images(JPEG) through your software, it would be really helpful for us. Is there anyway to download the Images directly through Hathi Trust without watermark, or you remove the watermark after downloading.

Still dealing with the same problem. I know for sure a book is not in copyright, but HD Downloader keeps giving me an "'in copyright" message and I can't download anything... I'll appreciate any help on this

A preliminary bugfix has been added to HDH 1.2.3 for Windows. Please download and install the updated version (added 2023-09-01).

Unfortunately I have to disappoint you. As far as I know there is no way to download image files without a watermark. You may can take a closer look at ticket #26

Any update on any of the above issues. If you could provide the URL for the images without the watermark, as the alternate method you have shared link of has watermarks(https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/imgsrv/image?id={ID NUMBER};seq={number};width=2000) It would be really helpful for us and the downloader many times keeps on finalizing the download and then stops shows the item as cancelled.

Hi there, I recently came up with a way to be able to remove watermarks in hi-res images from Hathi. The algorithm is the following: Download an image using your favorite settings Download the same image again, but now with 'orient=2' set in the hathi api, this rotates the image by 180 degrees, while retaining the position of the watermark! Rotate image 2. by 180 degrees to have it upright, with the watermark on the top of the page. Combine the top half of image 1. with the bottom half of image 2....

There is an error in the access control parser. The parser always returns true, even if a book is in copyright. The bug will be fixed in HDH 1.2.4

1) The new update is not able to check "Protected by copyright Law" books and gets stuck at 1% 2) Can you please share an example links of image pages without the watermark, it would be really helpful. 3) The downloading gets stuck at 99% (Last page of the books) many times.
