Hello Colin I finally got round the problem by temporarily disabling the 3rd party software block using terminal. After re-enabling the security, it gave the "install anyway" option. Which now works as it should. I have since upgraded to Tahoe OS and Floorboard works perfectly on that as well on my Mac M1. Thanks for your efforts. Arthur
Hi Arthur, There should be no reason for the software to not want to install, so long as the Mac Security settings are set to allow 3rd party apps to install. Cheers Colin.
The lack of controls on the GK-5 is a no go for me too. As I have a GK-3 on my bass and GK-2s on my Godin and Strat this is just too much of an outlay. The lack of a control pedal on the GM-800 is understandable given it's size but at the same time, yet another control missing in the scheme of things which means more $$ to make up the difference with external pedals. We will have to watch and see what happened with these products in the future although Roland/Boss tend to put it out there and move...
Hi Steven, Now have some time to read through a lot of mail & messages. The GR-55 FloorBoard editor does not instantly update any changes with in the GR-55, as the GR-55 hardware was not designed to interface with an editor, so the editor software must interrogate the GR-55 at intervals. That is where the "Auto Sync" button in the editor can be useful (and annoying at times too), where it will "read" from the GR-55 at 2 second intervals, but this feature can also get in the way of real time tweaking...
Hi. I can install and run gr floorboard on my laptop which has an M4 chip and Mac OS26 Tahoe. I love this software and want to run it on my desktop which is a Mac M1 mini running OS25. After giving the necessary permissions in settings, it asks me if I want to install it anyway. When I click that, it fails to install. I have downloaded the latest versions of Floorboard and the driver. I do not want to use OS26 on my M1 mini as some of my other software may not run. Thanks for a superb bit of sof...
Well I finally had a moment to get back at it. This time I went to the pedal to do the assignment and now it works. There’s a discrepancy between the software and the pedal in this case that was causing the issue. While the pedal menu shows the right selection, the software does not. End of issue from my end. However, you might take a look and see why it doesn’t show the same thing on the software. I forgot how annoying Roland can be. Out of all the 8 assignments, pedal switch CTRL and GK switches...

I've been using this patch forever. But I wanted to control the rotary spin speed. So as you would expect, i programmed my DOREMIDI for CC 14, Channel 1 to flip the speed. But it doesn't work! I've tested the DOREMIDI with MIDIVIEW and sure enough, it's transmitting but plugged into the MIDI in on the floorboard is not working at all. Switched MIDI cables just to make sure but no difference. So what am I doing wrong?
Hi, Try and older version from the Archives folder https://sourceforge.net/projects/grfloorboard/files/GR-55/Archive%20-%20older%20versions/ Cheers :-)
hey there. i have an old macbook pro i use for music recording. I downloaded the 10.13 version of floorboard, but it crashes every time upon opening. is there an older version i should be using? thanks very much. DG
OR! I could be a total arsehole and just keep up a modified version that has the check removed. Thus rendering it totally irrelevant. And, because I wouldn't be doing it by editing the executable itself, but instead by pairing it with another executable, it wouldn't be illegal either (at least in my country. As long as I don't go selling it, etc., etc.) I mean - as evident from my printscreen - I can run an old 2024 version (that was originally not starting due to the date check) without changing...
@Templayer, Have you considered asking @gumtownbassman how you might be able to assist in dealing with the pirates more effectively? If you did, I imagine @gumtownbassman would be willing to reconsider the one-year software limitation. You donate to one and find your way around another. How does that make you any better? I know times are tough, but laziness and theft are still just that.
That is the proper way to handle it, if possible. Instead of inconveniencing people that are using it legit. In quite a few games, I am using cracks even though I own the game legally. Because they have DRMs that were supposed to inconvinience pirates... which are then not inconvinienced when a crack is made, thus only inconviniencing legit players. It took me entire FIVE minutes to get rid of that check you made. How long do you think it is going to take for those Chinese bootleggers that SPECIALIZE...
I did have a minor win for the ones being sold on eBay, as I was able to enforce copyright infringement, so they had to remove published references to the software titles in the paid sales.
Hi, The reason for making the app with a one year time limit (based on system date) was a recent knee-jerk reaction when I found that my software was being sold by others for their own profit (one vendor has sold 11,000+ copies @ $20 each), and then directing their buyers to me for customer support (and I cop it from people think it was me that sold it to them when some of the included patches don't work properly). The software (20+ different titles found in the FxFloorBoard site) is being sold on...
Thanks for the software, but... why isn't it allowed to use older versions? When I try to launch it normally, it tells me that my version is too old, and it quits. (I'm still on Win7, so I really dislike that sort of crud) At first I was like - "Is it checking on there internet if there is a newer version available?", but no. Disabling the application's access to the internet didn't help. There is a simple date check, after which the application stops working. Nothing else, pretty much. And if there...

Hi Richard, Found a minor bug in the code which is now fixed with a new Mac OS version just now (15 Mar 2025). With the continuous updating of coding frameworks, parts of the existing source code need to be updated or modified as time passes. Hope this latest one is sorted for everyone using Mac OS

Hi Brent, The issue is with Mac OS and file/folder permissions, the app seems to be crashing when trying to write the saved preferences to disk. In the app working folder which is found from the top level of the disk in 'Finder', user/SHARED/gr55floorboard/ check the gr55floorboard folder (info properties) has permissions that allows the app to read and write to the folder, and that the file "prefernces.xml" also has permissions (can delete the file and the app will generate a new one). I hope this...

The old archived copy that you posted also works for me. Is this copy one that will not have a forced expiration date? Hope so. Thank you for posting this.
Thought I better attach the compete error report and system configuration info for the GR-55 Floorboard quit unexpectedly
The older version works great for me but not the new version. It's still doing the same thing. But still satisfied I'm back being able to use the app. Awesome work! Thank you!
I just downloaded the update that was posted on 2/15/25 hoping that the issue with not operating with MacOS Catalina was resolved. Upon installing the new update, I repeatably get an error that "GR-55 Floorboard quit unexpectedly". Please reference attached screen shot.
Hi All Mac OS users, Sorry about the mess around. I reconfigured the Mac version to lesser Mac OS version as it was set by default to OS 11.0 minimum spec, now set to 10.5 minimum (I think 10.13 might be the actual minimum it will run on perhaps). I am not that well clued on Mac OS life and am also still tinkering with the Shared folder (GR55FloorBoard running/storage folder) disk attributes. The installing and running permissions are bit of a problem since the app is not "Apple Certified" as the...

I cannot upgrade due to other hardware compatibility issues (audio interface, etc.). Floorboard worked great, for me, before this update. When this bug is fixed I will donate $50 via paypal.

My GR-55 Floorboard application has expired, and I am forced to make an update to continue using. However, when I follow the link and install, the Floorboard will not operate with Mac OS Catalina. I cannot update my Mac beyond Catalina due to other Hardware compatibility issues. On the system requirements for the new update it shows that it is supposed to be compatible with Mac OS 10.15 and above.
Thank you very much! But this method did not work me. Can you please help me further? I'm working with Big Sur 11.7.10
Hi :-) Have you tried going into the editor working folder $:/SHARED/FxFloorBoard/GR55FloorBoard/ and both, setting the permissions for the GR55FloorBoard folder (click on folder and select get Info) and set the permissions to allow the app to write saved settings in the folder, and secondly, delete the saved settings file named "preferences.xml". This will allow the app to generate a new file after being run a couple of times. Then hopefully the app will run and you can go into the "Preferences"...
I'm having the same problem -same mac os? did you get a solution?
I haven't been able to open Floorboard on it for months. I download new versions when they come out but no luck. It's been opening this screen and that's all I seem to be able to open. You think I'd have better luck with a new laptop?
The installer.pkg is usually opened with Mac OS system installer program, it usually requires some user permissions intervention, in the Privacy and Security folder in your Mac there should have been a dialog asking if you want to open the installer package. Safari does not work with installer packages, it is a Mac operating system function (once permissions are resolved). Also check in the Security settings that allows for non-AppleStore apps to be downloaded and run.
So... having a similar issue here too. Have a Mac running Ventura 13.6, get an error message stating : "Safari can’t open the file “GR-55FloorBoard_mac_installer.pkg” because no available application can open it." Thoughts?
Thank you so much. Deleting the preferences.xml in the /Shared/GR-55FloorBoard/ worked perfect. I really appreciate your help!
Mac OS is increasingly making security things more difficult, try checking the permissions on the saved patches & settings folder for the app found in "/Shared/GR-55FloorBoard/" You can check the GR-55FloorBoard folder has permissions for you, also try deleting the saved settings file within there named "preferences.xml" so the app can write a new one. Cheers
This last version will not save the preferences. Anybody have a solution for this? Version GR-55FloorBoard - 20240811 Running MAC OS 14.7.1
Thank you.
Don't know that particular pedal, but Zoom do have a patch editor for it here https://zoomcorp.com/en/us/multi-effects/guitar-effects/g71ut/g71ut-support/ I am not that impressed with Zoom gear, and the ME-50 is about as old as the G7.1ut, both about 25 years old.
Hello. I would like to know if anyone knows this multi effect. Zoom G7.1ut Is it possible to edit sounds with a PC via midi or usb, and then copy them to the pedal? What do you think about it? Better than boss me-50?
I'm not sure why, but redownloading the driver did the trick. I've been using GR55 Floorboard for years and never had to do that. I made a small donation as a thank you for the help and all the work you do on the Floorboard.
Hi Ken, Have you installed the GR-55 USB driver (specific one for your operating system) https://www.roland.com/global/support/by_product/gr-55/updates_drivers/ If it is not shown in the Preferences midi settings of GR-55FloorBoard, then the driver is not present (or the GR-55). To install the driver, you need to go into your Mac Security and Privacy settings, and when installing the driver software, allow permissions for the Roland driver to install when prompted. If that step is missed on the install,...
Thanks for the help, Collin. Unfortunately I can't figure it out. Under preferences it's showing no midi device available. No midi in or out. I don't think it's recognizing the GR at all for some reason. I've tried a couple different cables. The preferences.xml file is not highlighted so it won't let me delete. I wonder if the USB port could itself be bad. Anyway, let me know if you've got any other suggestions. Thanks!
hello. Can someone help me with a backup of the Boss gt-6 system? I want to update or replace the firmware.
Hi Ken, Open the editor preferences settings, and in the Midi/Usb page, select "GR-55" as the device to connect to. When you hit OK the app will restart with the settings saved. If the settings are not saving, then go to the app working folder, top disk level with User:/Shared/GR-55FloorBoard/ and delete a file named "preferences.xml" and try again, a new file will be generated. I hope that helps Cheers Colin.
I'm unable to connect to my GR55. When I hit connect, a message scrolls at the bottom to the effect of Midi input error, no MIDI input sources found. Any suggestions? This is new - was working fine for years.
It might be possible to use a piece of hardware from midi solutions with this. they make boxes that will convert and incoming MIDI signal to a different MIDI signal. they also do a few other things. I've used one to pervert the MIDI output of an electronic whammy bar that did not offer the output I need, But it did put out something I could work with. I used the event processor. It might be possible to put an event processor between your MIDI controller and the GR, and let it randomize or maybe cycle...
