The problem is caused by a redirection of all downloads from http to https urls by innogames. The automatic update functionality is affected as well. Sourceforges uses HTTPS too.
The tool uses Qt for performing downloads, which does not seem to support HTTPS by default. Probably this requires additional installation of the OpenSsl library.
I am currently searching for a simple solution to the problem.

The latest update of the installer shoould include all neccessary Qt-Dlls. But, in order to get grepotool working, you will eventually need to download and install OpenSSL (32-Bit-Version!) and copy three DLLs into the tools bin-subdir manually.

You will need the 32 Bit Version of OpenSSL which I can't ship with the Grepotool install zipfile due to license and other local legal issues in some countries. Please download and install OpenSSL (32 bit) manually. Even if your system is a 64 bit machine, the tool is a 32 bit program requiring 32 bit libraries.

Thank you for your hard work on this useful tool.
I just tried this fix, but couldn't make it work.
I tried:
-downloading openSSL resources from their official website https://www.openssl.org/source/ but all downloads turned out empty (nothing in extracted file);
-downloading a third party win32 openSSL v1.0.2g binary compiled verison from https://slproweb.com/products/Win32OpenSSL.html.
Neither of these has worked (cannot click on "Proceed" when selecting any of the worlds), is there something I missed?
Thanks for your help,
ssix
EDIT (after Peter Stewart's response to this thread): I did copy the three DLL's
libeay32.dll
libssl32.dll
ssleay32.dll
into the grepo-tool folder containing the GrepoTool.exe.
And everything works :) The launcher needs now more time to load all windows and option boxes but that's fine.
Thank you!

Worked thanks. For those still having issues please note that once the open SSL is installed copy the DLL's to the same directory as the Grepotool.exe . I used https://slproweb.com/products/Win32OpenSSL.html for the install binaries

Thank you , this tool is awesome and it will be so bad is we can not use it
Respect

Hi Peter,
Just thought I'd add to this one. It's a great tool and it'd be a pity if it wasn't made available again for us grepo-nerds.
Has any progress been made at all?
Best regards,
Mike
Agreed, this util is by far the best Grepolis tool for planning and strategy. This was the only Grep tool I used on a regular basis.
