For GBrowse installations that use the SQLite adaptor, it is an inconvenience to have to install MySQL and maintain a MySQL database just to use gbrowse_syn. With a few small changes, gbrowse_syn_load_alignment_database.pl can support both MySQL and SQLite (see the attached patch).
