Version 0.2.0 of GLText has been released and is available for download from the GLText Web site: http://gltext.sourceforge.net Or through the download link at the GLText project page at SourceForget: http://sourceforge.net/projects/gltext RPM packages and a zip of Win32 binaries are available in addition to the traditional source .tar.gz files. GLText is a highly portable font rendering library for OpenGL applications usable from C++ applications. It uses FreeType2 to read and render high-quality TrueType fonts with a minimal footprint. With jsut a few easy lines of C++, you can add gorgeously rendered text to your graphical applications. Changes to GLText since the last release include: - A reference-counted interface. The memory of all GLText objects are now managed internally by GLText. Use the XXXPtr classes to handle the reference counting management automatically for you. - A new stream interface to the renderer. You can now provide text to the renderer through a familiar STL iostream-like interface. A gltext-users mailing list has been created for those interesting in getting started using GLText. You can subscribe at: http://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/gltext-users Alternatively, we invite you to subscribe to the low-volume gltext-announce mailing list to receive notifications when new versions of GLText become available: http://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/gltext-announce cheers, ----- Ben Scott non...@us... |

Version 0.1.0 of GLText has been released and is available for download from the GLText Web site: http://gltext.sf.net Or through the download link at the GLText project page at SourceForge: http://sf.net/projects/gltext/ RPM packages and a zip of Win32 binaries are available in addition to the traditional source .tar.gz files. This is the first public release of GLText and should be used to test the usability of the library. Anti-aliased and aliased font rendering is supported in this release. GLText is a highly portable font rendering library for OpenGL applications usable from C++ applications. It uses FreeType2 to read and render high-quality TrueType fonts with a minimal footprint. With just a few easy lines of C++, you can add gorgeously rendered text to your graphical applications. Distinctive features of GLText include: - Support for any TrueType font using FreeType2 as the backend. - Anti-aliased pixmap rendering. - Fast aliased bitmap rendering. - Easily extensible API without interface changes. - Doxygen API documentation. A gltext-users mailing list has been created for those interested in getting started using GLText. You can subscribe at: http://lists.sf.net/lists/listinfo/gltext-users Alternatively, we invite you to subscribe to the low-volume gltext-announce mailing list to receive notification when new versions of GLText become available: http://lists.sf.net/lists/listinfo/gltext-announce Special thanks goes to Chad Austin for his contributions to this release. cheers, ----- Ben Scott non...@us... |
