What is GentooCNC?

GentooCNC (or GCNC for short) is an attempt to create CNC or other industry-level controlling device.
Our goal is to keep it as customizable as possible, while keeps it simple to setup and maintain.

You can see GCNC as an extension of Gentoo distribution, with its overlay, script and additional support, focused on delivering realtime system, controller and drivers.

What is it NOT?

It's not new linux distribution. It should be rather considered like expanded Gentoo, specialized on group of tasks. (you can of course use GCNC on your daily basis PC as well)

It's not a LinuxCNC fork. LinuxCNC is one of packages inside GCNC.

Why Gentoo?

LinuxCNC is originally based on Ubuntu. It is OK in some situations, but sometimes it's not so flexible. Some examples:
