gBook / News: Recent posts

Basically nothing new has happened with this project for about 3 years. I just enabled the svn service for this project and intend to commit my development code from only 2 years ago. It may get me to look at the code and clean it up a bit (it works, it's just always been really ugly).

gBook Updater 0.1.2 has been released. Use gBook Updater 0.1.1 to update to the new version or manually install. Oh, and you might find something interesting... you might find that gBook 1.0.2 is now available.

Many of the problems with the old versions should now be resolved and some cool new things (to have problems with) have been added.

A gBook Updater update will be available shortly. gBook Updater 0.1.1 will be able to automatically update itself or you can manually update it.

Most of the code was modified and the output should now be more legible. The new version should be slightly faster (and the time taken thing is more accurate) and much more uniform. gBook Updater 0.1.1 can automatically update itself.

The gBook project has made its first release today. gBook 1.0.1.

Also, we made our second release today: a beta of gBook Updater. If you have a copy of the MK Productions guest book, just download the Updater, upload it, change permissions, and run it and you will have gBook 1.0.1. (Keep it because you can use it for future releases too.)

The first gBook release will be version 1.0.1, primarily consisting of bug fixes and some code movement / rewrites. After 1.0.1 will be 1.1, which will be a complete rewrite of gBook and the last full release in the version 1 series.

gBook 1.0 will *not* be available on this project's space. If you want to pick up a copy of it, you can do so at <http://mkp.gdshadow.net/mirror/guest_book/>. This was the first version with _many_ typos and mistakes in general. While it may be better than other guest book systems, it is NOT recommended.

I was just awarded my project take over request and the project now has the nice name gBook versus "that guest book".

In other news, another developer was added to the developers list, HavocH27. Hopefully, the development process will run more smoothly in a more informal, less time-based environment.
