A corpus could be marked as read only, in which case it
would not be automatically synhronized in a Datastore.
This would make the processing of corpora loaded from
Datastore much faster, e.g. for Machine Learning
applications where the documents are not modified.

Thanks for this info. The mechanism I am describing is more
generic and should be available whatever the implementation
of the DataStore is (could be a File Serialization).
