Pidgin crashes on shutdown if the Extended Prefs plugin is enabled.
I'm using Debian and a bug has been opened
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=459072
Attached you can find the backtrace.
Thanks
Gabriele

Looking at the debian bug page.. Have you had any success on trying to switch to a different theme or a default theme and then trying to shut down pigdin to see if it still crashes?

I also tried with a XFCE and it still crashes.
It crashes and crashing on shutdown I think it's difficult to note.

I realize it crashes on shutdown but Arjan in this message (http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=459072#27) has said that the backtrace shows that Extended Prefs resets your theme (reset_theme()) which may be the reason why it's crashing. It may not be Extended Prefs fault but the theme you are using, if anything different from the default pidgin theme.
This is the question I was asking, did you try to set you pidgin theme to the default theme and then see if pidgin still crashes while extended prefs is enabled?

I think Arjan was talking about gnome/gtk themes and you about pidgin smiley themes.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
I've tried a lot of gnome/gtk themes and pidgin still crashes.
Regarding smiley themes, I'm using the default one.
After several further tests, I've found out that the pidgin crash is caused by Extended Prefs and _Buddy List Options_ plugins if both enabled.
Disabling "Buddy List Options", now I can use "Extended Prefs" without the workaround.
Can anyone reproduce this and tell me which plugin could unload better without disturbing the other one?

I have just recently started experiencing this bug too. If both extprefs and Buddy List Options are activated, Pidgin crashes at shutdown. Disable either and it will not
(though I had one case of starting it with BLO enabled, switching that off and extprefs on and it crashing the quit after that, but none subsequently)
I'm using WinXP Home with Andrei Neculau's "Original" smiley theme and have tried a tedious number of combinations of plugins with only these two causing a crash.

Can you tell me what options you have ticked in the Buddy List Options plugin?

Any update on this bug? I see this with Pidgin 2.4.2 on Win32, with the 2.3.0 plugin pack with extprefs 0.7, I suspect that the two are arguing over the hide buddy list setting.

also occurs on Windows XP, Pidgin 2.5.1
Problem still occurring on WinXP SP3, Pidgin 2.5.4. I have purple plugins 2.5.0, guifications 2.1.6, and pidgin encryption 3.0; however, I don't use Buddy List Options and the crash occurs even if extprefs is the only plugin enabled. Changing my GTK theme to the default one does not have an effect.
