PTXDesigner is a graphical program for the design of power transformers.

The power transformer designer will allow the design of any power transformer
having one or more secondaries. The user chooses the appropriate
dimensions, the operating core flux density (1.2 Wb/sq. m. is a convenient
default for the usual silicon steel lamms), and the operating frequency
(50Hz, 60Hz, and 400Hz are the defaults).

Primary voltage, secondary voltage and current, and the operating circular mils
per amp are also user supplied values. The completed project returns: turns for
each coil, the volts per turn ratio (useful forcalculating tap-offs), the total
primary current, and the required gage for the wire (AWS gage). As for all projects,
the results are displayed to the main window display area, may be written to disk
and/or printed.

It should be understood that PTXDesigner does not calculate any physical
construction parameters, just the electronic design. For those who are interested,
there is another app, Turns-n-Layers, available for the physical design parameters.

See the on-line help for further details on using PTXDesigner.

PTXDesigner was developed with the FOX toolkit (http://www.fox-toolkit.org),
XEMACS (http://www.xemacs.org),
and Valgrind (http://developers.kde.org/~sewardj)
