The password for the freeloader user is "free". The root password is also free. Please report any issues.

If the GUI (X) does not start, type these commands:

sudo Xorg -configure
sudo cp /root/xorg.conf.new /etc/X11/xorg.conf
startx

I recommend trying freeloader linux in VMWare / qemu to save a DVD image.
Another alternative is to create a bootable USB stick with unetbootin:
