FreeICS code updated in CVS

I have recently merged the bulk of the ZICS enhancements to the GICS code into the FreeICS CVS tree. This code is now more robust and somewhat more feature-rich than the GICS code. It also indelibly stamps the FreeICS brand on this fork of the FICS code.

I'd love to receive some patches from other server operaters who have hacked on the FICS/GICS code.

Mamer imported into CVS

Thanks to Michael Long, the Mamer source has been imported into the FreeICS CVS tree.

Mamer is a mature tournament director program written in C++. This code was in use on FICS up until a year or so ago. The code is not known to work with the current FreeICS codebase, but I'm sure it won't take us long to fix that!

Pull it down, hack on it and submit patches back to the project!

Mame 0.9 released

The freeics project has been kicked off with the first public release of mame! Mame is a functional tournament director which runs well on the GICS codebase.

Mame, while nearly 7 years old, is actually still in fairly early stages of development. Many features are not fully implemented and the code needs modernizing and cleaning up. I'll be working on the major deficiencies - volunteers welcome!

FreeICS project launch

Welcome to the FreeICS project.

Over the coming weeks I will be importing the GICS codebase as the foundation of the freeics project. I have quite a few enhancements from ZICS to merge into the code, and I hope the admins of a few other servers running the GICS code will submit some of their improvements.

Michael Long has kindly allowed me to release his Mamer 2.0!! This is a mature tournament director, however it requires more server features than the GICS code provides. Hopefully someone will volunteer to help me enhance either Mamer or FreeICS so they work together!... read more
