Hello Folks, I can't seem to upload a single-partition Windows 7 image to my fog server... Here's my list of successes/failures: Successes: 1) Linux Fedora 15 image upload (Image type: Multiple Partition Image - Single Disk, not resizeable) 2) Windows 7 100Mb system partion + main partition (Image type: Single Partition - NTFS Only, resizeable) Failure: 1) Windows 7 single partition (without 100Mb system partion) (Image type: Single Partition - NTFS Only, resizeable) I'm using Fog version 0.32... From what I can find online, if I'm using a single partition with Windows 7, my only option is to use the 'multiple partition - All disks' image type. If this is true, it seems an anacronism with the image type name 'Single Partition - NTFS, resizeable)! Am I missing something? Hello Luc, If I recall off hand, I think the Fog Service runs a check in every ten minutes after the first (which is when the service starts), iterating through the modules it has to see if any of them have work to do. It's a setting somewhere in the configuration file that the service uses. You can check the log on one of your machines to verify. It should be in the root of your %systemdrive%. Hello Folks, At what intervals (minutes, seconds, etc) does the Fog-service on a Windows client do its check-in? I'm just wondering what is the normal waiting time for a client to reboot and perform an assigned task (imaging, etc) once it's been assigned in the Fog web portal. Hello listfolk, I've been struggling with this for a few days now. I'm using FOG 0.32, and attempting to capture an image from a VMware Workstation 7 virtual machine.... and it really doesn't seem to be working. Every attempt I've made thus far to capture the image, even through several iterations of the source disk's configuration, snapshots, bus adapter types of both IDE and SCSI, don't seem to be working. The latest incarnation was created by booting up a Windows 7 PE with a blank IDE virtual hard disk (expanding VMDK) that I initialized through disk management, created a partition, marked as active, and then ran "bootsect.exe /nt52 c: /mbr" on the drive. I then used Robocopy to copy the contents of a mounted disk image (one of the SCSI based disks that was also showing up in the image capture as "raw") to this new "virgin" IDE disk, and imaging with FOG yields the same result. While I am able to boot this source machine after it's resized, captured, and then expanded by FOG, any machine imaged with this image fails to boot, citing "Error loading operating system." I'm going to keep working on this to see if there's anything I can do to get it to work, but it's driving me nuts :P Might anyone have any ideas? Thanks, Andrew Bobulsky P.S., the only part of the clone process that seems "off" is a mention of opening "/dev/sr0/" as read only. |

Hello, I want to install FOG but I don't want its installer to modify my server's configuration (DHCP and co). How can I do that ? Is there any documentation that describes what must be configured and how ? Thanks. |

Dear all, I have one question on imaging Windows using FOG. In my school, most client computers are equipped with 1 hard disks, divided into 2 partitions, the first partition is for Windows System and Applications, hidden from the Windows Explorer, the second partitions is for temporary data storage used by end-users. The hard disk size varies from client computer to computer. However, the Windows partition is similar in size, e.g. 80GB. I know that the only resize-able image type supported by FOG is "Single Partition". I would like to ask if FOG can control the size of the partition used to restore the image. Why I ask this question is that I want to create a master image by imaging a master computer with ONLY 1 system partition. Then clone this partition to the client computers without occupying the computer hard disk, say 80GB, leaving the remaining capacity un-partitioned. Then, ideally, I may use Windows to create the DATA partition for users on each workstations after the imaging tasks is done. BUT the question is, is this possible? Can I control the size of the partition used in a download task under FOG anywhere??? Please HELP!!! Regards, Jacky Hui Hong Kong |

Changing it from a 1 to a 0 significantly improves my gui experience. However, I also read in the forums that this breaks the host-search feature within the gui, so if you've got a lot of hosts to sort through this isn't a great fix. |

Hi folks,
we just took delivery of a test Lenovo ThinkCentre A70z.
- If I boot with the normal kernel, I get some errors like:
ehci_hcd .... request interrupt 14 failed
uhci_hcd .... request interrupt 15 failed
and then a "no hard disk found".
- If I boot with the kitchensink kernel (Kernel-2.6.33.3.kitchensink), I
get exactly the same
- If I boot with nousb, the request interrupt errors disappear, but I
still get "no hard disk found".
- If I try and boot it with a kernel swiped from a knoppix CD (2.6.32.6
#8), the hard disk is recognised but other things fail (due to lack of
the modules.dep in the expected location).
So it appears there's something in the knoppix config which causes the
right hard disk to be loaded and whatever that is, isn't true of the fog
kernels.
It appears that the ata_piix driver is being used, though I could be wrong
on that.
According to lspci, the disk controller is a:
00:1f.2 IDE interface: Intel Corporation 80201GB/GR/GH (ICH7 Family) SATA IDE Controller (rev 01)
When I boot into debug mode and run "dmesg | grep -i ata", I can see:
ata_piix: probe of 0000:00:1f.2 failed with error -16
I can see /dev/sda{,1,2} and /dev/sdb{,1} devices. If I try to mount one
manually, I get
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Error opening partition device: no such device or address.
Failed to startup volume: no such device or address.
You seem to have SoftRAID/FakeRAID hardware and must use an activated
different device under /dev/mapper, (eg /dev/mapper/nvidia_eahaabcc1) to
mount NTFS. Please see the `dmraid' documentation for help.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
There is only one disk drive in the machine, so I don't think this is
correct.
Anyone have any suggestions on where to go from here?
Gavin

I had the same trouble until I put quotes ("") around the filename
pxelinux.0 under Additional DHCP options in IPCop. Try "pxelinux.0" and
