Version 0.24 of FileExchange is now available for download. It makes it easier to edit paths of file and directory links by selecting the previous value per default. Additionally it makes adding further files to a virtual folder simpler by opening the add file dialog in the same directory like last time.

This release improves the address list: If configured correctly the program can now get the WAN IP from your router. If you don't have a router then this isn't necessary and the program will most likely work out of the box like version 0.22 did. Additionally to the new way to obtain an address you can now move entries in the address list up and down.

FileExchange will now allow you to add your own suggestions to the list of addresses, which are suggest for the host component of the server URL. You can now for example specify that this list contains "example.org" followed by the IPs from the network interfaces. At startup FileExchange picks the first entry in the list as value for the host component and if you placed "example.org" there then this value will be picked.

The major new feature of this release is the detection of the IP addresses the PC has in the different networks. This list of IP addresses is then used to pick an "good" IP for the server URL. The server URL is no longer clickable, but a "Visit URL" button has been added as replacement. A new "Copy URL" button allows you to copy the URL into the chilpboard. Note that the detected IP will not be accessible over the internet if you are behind a router.

Starting with this release entries in the "files uploaded by others" table don't get lost when you close the program, but are restored the next time you start FileExchange.

Besides that noteworthy is that you can now properly delete or save an entry of the "files uploaded by others" table while you are still editing it.

The server file structure or a sub tree can now be a "Directory Link". A "Directory Link" works like a "File Link", but makes a whole directory tree accessible through the web interface.

The UI has changed in this release two: The transactions table gets now permanently displayed in the lower right corner and has now 2 columns instead of 4, but with the same content.

As you might have noticed FileExchange 0.17 creates incomplete profiles and won't start a second time. This has been fixed in this version. If you have a corrupt profile don't worry. This version will ask you then if you want to replace your corrupt profile with a new one.

One new feature has it made into this version as well: You can now hide children of virtual folders. A hidden child does not get listed at the index page of the virtual folder but can be still accessed, if you know the URL.... read more

The main new Feature of this release is persistence. The Application will now remember the following across different sessions:
+ The whole sever file structure
+ Speed limits
+ The port the server is listening at

Multiple profiles are supported too. If you want to use a different profile path then ~/.fileexchange then you have to call it like this:

This release increases HTTP/1.1 compatibility and adds a new pop menu entry to the "Files uploaded by others" table named "Open Containing Folder".

This realease brings support for the HTPP content range header fields Content-Range, Range and If-Range. As a result of this users downloading from a FileExchange server will be able to resume downloads.

Changelog:
+ If properly requested by the browser, the server will now notify the browser that a file has not changed. This feature saves you bandwidth and speeds up the time it takes for a user to get content which hasn't changed.
* Fixed delivering files with speed limitation. Previously the other end received only parts of file due to a bug introduced recently.
* Fixed that the "Waiting for active transfers" opens when there are no active transfers.
* Fixed that the application progress does not fully terminate when speed limitation was turned on.

This release adds the ability to disable and re-enable uploading.

+ Added a button "View Active Transfers" which opens a window with the active transfers table.

+ Fixed the receive speed limit spinner, which was setting the limit to the value of the other spinner.

+ The suggested name of received files can now be changed.

+ When you quit the application when there are active transfers you get now a list of the active transfers.
+ The name column is now editable.

+ Deliver speed limit can now be adjusted.
+ Disabling the speed limit takes now less time to show effect on running transfers.
+ It's now possible to limit the speed at which the server receives data.

This release adds the ability to limit the deliver speed to 10 kB/s.

If enabled, all active transfers will at maximum use 10 kilobytes per second of your upload speed to deliver files.
If for example 4 files get downloaded from the server simultaneously then each file will get delivered with 2.5 kB/s.

Note worth is, that you can enable and disable the speed limitation feature while the server is running: In such a case the new setting will even effect running transfers, however with a small delay due to buffered data.

FileExchange 0.3 is now available for download.

New Features:
+ The server can now be started again, while it still serves outstanding requests.
+ It's now possible to change the port. It's even possible to change the port while the server is running: The server will then accept new requests at the new port, while it serves the outstanding requests as if nothing has happend.

This Release brings a visual refresh.

Changelog:
+ An URL indicates now that the server listens at port 8080.
+ The "Start Server" and "Stop Server"-buttons are now located at the top.
+ A lot of gaps have been placed between components to make the application better looking.

FileExchange 0.1 is now available for download.
