Hi, when I double click a .fcd file on Finder (Mac Osx) FidoCadJ correctly opens, but it doesn't load the .fcd file I just clicked. I have to do File => Open and select the file. Hello. Make sure you use a Java version greater or equal than 9. IIRC Java does not update automatically above version 8, so you may probably have a Java version 8 that is up to date but that is not enough to make FidoCadJ 0.24.8 version run. Hope it helps!

Hi ! II use the 24.7 version and it run fine but I tryed to install the new version 24.8 and I have a problem : It install with the "msi" file but when i try tu use the exe file, I have the message "Java Virtual Machine Launcher / A Java Exception has occured". Per ragioni credo legate al cambiamento di licenza e politica di Oracle, gli aggiornamenti più o meno automatici si fermano alla versione Java 8. Hi Luigi, that's one of the major news of version 0.24.8, indeed. In this version, you can not disable this behavior, though. You may open a request for it there: https://github.com/DarwinNE/FidoCadJ/issues However, I noticed in the past the configuration options for the program that are saved in files tend to create a certain deal of confusion in many users. I fell into the trap of believing the Oracle standard "general public" downloader message that V8 / Update 261 really is current... I really appreciate FidoCadJ - superb, small and efficient - ideal for small to medium size projects...

Hello, FidoCadJ requires at least Java 9. You must install a more recent version, 8 is not enough. While I am writing those lines, the last version is Java 14 and it is the version I used to develop version 0.27.8, it should work just fine. Cheers, D.

Hello Axel, No, unfortunately it is not possible to run FidoCadJ 0.24.8 with Java 1.8. If version 0.24.7 is slow with Linux, try to hide the grid, it seems that it is the culprit in the vast majority of situations. There is a button under the toolbar that toggles grid visibility, that may help. Hi Alessandro, it seems that it is a misleading message from new operating systems. I tried to download the file (from GitHub) and it works fine on my computer (High Sierra). Hello, and many thanks for your amazing project! I'm not able to launch FidoCadJ 0.24.8 (just downloaded) on macOS 10.15 (Catalina). When I launch the app I obtain the following message: Usually I save an exception for a specific app by "CTRL+click" -> "Open" on it and then "Open" again, but this does not work in this case. Any ideas?

Hi Ernesto! Nice to know FidoCadJ works. Concerning the strange characters, it's an issue with the handling of UTF-8 in the ResourceBundle class, provided by Java. I could patch this behaviour many years ago, but maybe my patch does not work in your particular setup. I don't have a solution as I should be able to replicate the problem (and everything works for me). Hello! I just downloaded FidoCadj to test it on a computer with Kubuntu Eoan Ermine. I have the fidocadj.jar file but I can't get it to work. If I right-click - open with OpenJDK JAVA 11 runtime it gives me an error and if I open a console in the download folder and type java -jar fidocadJ.jar, I also get an error. What am I doing wrong? Thank you!

The problem can be solved by putting the magnification at values like 220, 130, 80 avoiding values like 133, 321, 76 etc. Do not use units but round the values to tens. It would be nice if it could be fixed in the "options" menu

Ciao, ci vuole un ambiente Java installato su Mac, in gergo ci vuole quello che si chiama un JRE (Java Runtime Environment). Qui dovrebbe essere un buon punto di partenza per installarne uno: https://www.java.com/fr/download/help/mac_install.xml Non c'è una versione demo di FidoCadJ, il programma è completo ed è totalmente gratuito, non richiede nessuna registrazione e nessuno store. Perfetto! Concordo sul fatto di esportare solo i Layer selezionati. Se troppo complesso puoi esportare tutti i layer e sara' lo script di OpenSCAD a "selezionare" gli SVG da estrudere e processare. Ciao, ho iniziato a lavorare alla possibilità di esportare un disegno in diversi file vettoriali separando i layer diversi (issue #154 su GitHub). Per adesso c'è ancora qualcosa da rivedere e da testare, ma direi che la cosa è fattibilissima. Cosa faccio con i layer vuoti? Mi parrebbe logico non generare nessun file, adesso il programma ne genera comunque uno (con i buchi delle piazzole bianche). A presto, D.

Concordo con te, Davide. io renderei disponibile su FidoCADJ solo l'esportazione della sequenza dei layer selezionati (nel formato che ritieni piu' opportuno, incluso l'SVG, ovviamente). Per il resto si possono fare dei tutorial con degli script di importazione a OpenSCAD. L'esportazione dei layer puo' essere utilizzata anche per altri scopi oltre che per la stampa 3D! L'idea (che mi sembra fattibile in questo caso) è di aggiungere solo lo stretto indispensabile. Nell'interfaccia di FidoCadJ punto sempre ad un certo minimalismo. Da un lato, mi semplifica il lavoro. Da un altro rende il risultato più pulito e facile da comprendere per chi si approccia al programma. Per esempio, perché separare i layer solo con l'esportazione SVG? Davide e' stato bravissimo a nascondere la complessita' del suo lavoro "dentro le librerie" e rendere l'esperienza utente davvero semplice ed una curva di apprendimento rapidissima. Sarebbe un peccato inserire aspetti di complessita' non richiesti (vedi il mio primo post). A me personalmente interesserebbe l'esportazione dell'intera serie degli SVG (quelli settati come visibili), poi sarei in grado di creare degli script per la ricostruzione tridimensionale. Molto interessante, non dovrebbe essere difficile da fare e non si discosta dalla filosofia di FidoCadJ che rimane sempre legata al 2D. Nelle prossime settimane non ho tantissimo tempo libero, purtroppo, ma forse verso metà maggio proverò a fare qualcosa. Ho visto la issue su GitHub, è perfetta.

Ciao Davide, ho fatto alcune prove preliminari di esportazione SVG ed importazione OpenSCAD ed il sistema sembra funzionare anche se bisogna "pensarla bene" sfruttando la strutturazione a layer di FidoCADJ. Ho creato un file con FidoCADJ inserendo un solo componente (LCC 28 PIN). Ho esportato il fle in SVG come lcc28.svg nella directory di OpenSCAD. Ho lanciato lo script seguente su OpenSCAD: linear_extrude(height = 1) { scale(0.1) import("lcc28.svg"); } Su FidoCADJ ho poi disattivato il lato rame...

Ciao! Quello che posso pensare di fare è aggiungere un'esportazione verso uno script OpenSCAD (che verrebbe generato automaticamente), per esempio ottenendo una figura 2D avente un certo spessore uniforme, ma parametrizzabile in qualche modo (per esempio una variabile nello script). Però FidoCadJ lavora solo con elementi 2D e non posso andare molto oltre. Non è difficile aggiungere dei formati di esportazione vettoriale, ovviamente una volta che si conosce bene il formato verso cui si vuole andare....

Io lavoro spesso con OpenSCAD (che ti consiglio di provare se non lo hai gia' fatto) e spesso mi capita di "estrudere" SVG (generati di solito con Inkscape) per creare dei solidi . Mi e' venuto automatico pensare al tuo Fidocad per maneggevolezza, compattezza e sopratutto per la geniale gestione delle librerie che ha superato la iniziale divisione presenste in FidoCad. Ciao Davide, ho ripreso da poco un mio progetto per cui mi serviva un software per creare PCB e sono passato per la solita trafila rispolverando vecchie conoscenze di gioventu' (Eagle, Diptrace etc). Le curva di ri-apprendimento e' lenta per software professionali che si sono arricchiti di tanti fronzoli ed hanno perso il concetto di produttivita' per un maker del fine settimana. Non sono sicuro di capire la domanda. Se usi un file vettoriale, le dimensioni sono rispettate, basta mantenere un fattore di scala uguale ad 1.0. Se invece usi un file bitmap, quello che conta sono i punti per pollice (DPI) e devi regolarli perché siano uguali alla risoluzione di cui hai bisogno (per esempio, per stampare). Servono altre informazioni?

Per quanto riguarda FidoCadJ, quando ho tempo e voglia, come dici tu, mi metto al computer e faccio qualcosa. Penso però che la grande differenza di FidoCadJ rispetto a tool come l'ottimo KiCAD (che ti consiglio caldamente di provare) è la facilità di scambio dei disegni nei forum e nei gruppi di discussione. Hi again, if it can be useful, I just tested FidoCadJ by connecting myself to a Linux Centos distant machine by SSH and by redirecting X11 via SSH. I have a X11 server on my Mac laptop so the graphical rendering is done on my computer by X11, inside a MacOS window. FidoCadJ runs very smoothly on the remote machine even in this configuration. Hi, if FidoCadJ is too slow on Linux, that is not normal at all. I tested it on many different machines and the performances were quite good even on very old hardware. However, it happened in the past that on some particular Linux installs, there are some performance issues. Unfortunately, this has been reported to me (I remember some discussions in Italian language elsewhere), but I never had such a problem myself. I am supposing you are running version 0.24.7 that is the most recent stable version...

More details: Most programs, if I left click to place a symbol, start a line, etc., then a right click will stop the symbol, end the line, and so on, but FC doesn't on my machine. If I draw something and zoom in with "FIT" and then try to zoom back out, my drawing disappears Response is extremely slow. I am told that JDK 8 is backwards compatible w/ JDK 6, so it shouldn't be a version problem. If I open a terminal window, Java shows properly, so I'm not sure what is going on. Suggestions welcome,...

Ciao, gli accessi sono tutti abilitati. "C:\Program Files\" è il path che appare in automatico in fase di installazione ma anche cambiandolo, sia manualmente che selezionandolo dall'albero, l'errore permane. Saluti A.

Ciao, sembrerebbe che ci sia un problema di permessi di qualche genere. Purtroppo, non conosco Windows abbastanza per essere preciso (l'ultima versione di Windows che ho usato seriamente è stata Windows 2000), ma sembrerebbe che FidoCadJ non sia autorizzato a scrivere dove tu vorresti. Del resto, da quel poco che mi ricordo, "C:\Program Files\" non mi sembra il posto adatto per salvare un disegno. Credo tu debba cambiare i permessi a livello del sistema operativo, ma putroppo non ti so dire di più....

Salve, ho installato il programma senza problemi, anche su vari pc, ma in fase di salvataggio restituisce il seguente errore: "Errore durante il savataggio: java.ioFileNotFoundException: C:\Program Files\prova.fcd (Accesso negato) utulizzando qualsiasi percorso; il salvataggio funziona solo se effettuato sul Desktop. The ability of grouping things is often found in vector drawing softwares. In FidoCadJ this does not exist directly, but you can create new library symbols as you wish. (There is a short tutorial on that on the English manual). By a certain point of view, the creation of a new symbol can be seen as a very "strong" version of the grouping technique. I currently do not know if it is worth to implement a weaker grouping more similar to the usual one. NB: the most recent manual in English refers to version...

Just a suggestion for a FioCADj improvement. I was creating a symbol for Arduino type headers this morning, and found that I had to recreate each one individualy. It would have been so much easier to have been able to select the rectangle and associated lines and to have been able to group them into a single entity, which could then be manipulated as a single component. Along the same lines, once one has created such a component, is there a way to add it to a user created library?

La lista dei bug è tenuta ora su GitHub: https://github.com/DarwinNE/FidoCadJ/issues Riusciresti ad aprire una nuova Issue descrivendo il problema che incontri (in inglese)? Dovrei avere tutte le informazioni per replicare esattamente il bug partendo da una versione appena scaricata di FidoCadJ 0.24.7. Se non riesco a replicare il problema, sicuramente non riuscirò a correggerlo. Fammi sapere, D.

Ciao Davide, nella versione 0.24.7 (Java) quando aggiungo uno o più componenti ad una libreria aggiuntiva che ho creato io, a volte sovrascrive alcuni componenti già esistenti. Me ne sono accorto in quanto prima di modificarla faccio una copia di backup della libreria, e poi confronto la copia con il file aggiornato.
