Certain settings can speed up Fast Forward processes by 10 times in some cases!
If your video is free of errors, and you aren’t changing any parameters (such as bitrate, frame rate, frame size etc.), the “Straight copy” option will copy the streams in your video file without re-encoding them. Especially with H.264 video, this saves heaps of time.
If you plan to cut out any of your video, or remove any streams, do it as soon as possible! This ensures that FFmpeg only has to process the smallest amount of video needed. You can cut you vide using the [Edit File] option.
If you don’t care about the size of your file, set the “Compression preset” option to a fast setting. This will speed up the encoding process, however it will also create a larger file. Be careful!
Reducing the frame size, bitrates and frame rate will reduce the quality of you video, but it will also speed up your process (and create a smaller file).
