Calling all Golfers

I have just posted a help wanted spot on sourceforge asking golfers to submit feature requests. I know the basics of what needs to be stored but hopefully some requests from active golfers will give me more direction.

Something to Consider

Well I am hoping to release a preliminary plan for design/features and development as well as some conceptual diagrahms for architecture to try and get some feedback, if anyone takes interest. One big thing I am considering is deciding on a different storage model than DB JE. Unfortunately DB JE doesn't use the same format as the original DB for storing files which makes me wonder about being able to share the files with other programs that may want to access the same data. Of course an XML data export would be an option but I am wondering if an XML based storage system would be the best anyways, perhaps a Zipped XML format or some other kind of bundle that could be extracted at runtime and recompressed on save and exit events. If anyone who is listening wants to give some feedback I would love to hear it...

Fairway Planning

The Fairway project wants to provide a cross-platform system for keeping track of the things that matter most to golfers, where they played and how well; or in my case, poorly, they did. At the lowest level we will bed using Sleepycat's DB Java Edition for data storage and the program will be written entirely in Java. Planning is underway for the DB structure and interface functionality/appearance and I am also looking for developers with familiarity with DB JE and the game of golf to help with planning and eventually development.
