The setup:
nQuake 2.7 with hi-res textures and default parameters.
The only change I made was cl_maxfps which I set to 0.
My brand new laptop is ACER Aspire V7-482PG which has two graphics cards:
1) NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M
2) Intel HD Graphics 4400
By default, Nvidia card is used.
With Nvidia card (and f_system shows that), FPS is stick to around 179 and barely changes when I walk on the map.
If I switch to Intel HD graphics (using Nvidia control panel set preferable adapter for the ezQuake executable, again f_systems shows Intel card), FPS starts from ~300 and goes up to 700-800 depends on my location and point of view.
I would expect nvidia card to perform better than Intel HD graphics.
Please fix this.
The problem is almost certainly with your system and not ezQuake. Make sure your gfx clocks up as it should, that you've turned off "threaded optimisation", that you dont run a lot of antialiasing etc that takes GPU power.
I checked the clocks - it increases as it should (see attached).
Also turned off threaded optimization - nothing changed
Any other ideas?
p.s. I'm running windows 8.1 x64 and have an external monitor attached to the laptop. (set up as only display to use)
Closing, not sure this is actionable. Probably a system/driver issue, otherwise with new renderer coming in 3.5 I'm not going to look into performance on older versions.
