    Hi, i installed the latest extreamtuxracer on windows 10, it works fine, using the keyboard, but i would like to control it like every other racing game can using my XBox 360 controller, there is no setting for it but i remember it worked using controler under linux, could you please update it accordingly so that it works with any normal controller like other games under windows? thanks in advance TN

    Having csfml 3.x installed will cause extremetuxracer to fail to build (see attached log file). Environment: Arch Linux 64-bit, extremetuxracer 0.8.4, csfml 3.0.0.git1, sfml 3.0.0. Considering it used to work with csfml 2.x, so I'm assuming support for 3.x is needed.

I have now also carefully translated courses' names and descriptions. -> Attached you will find a zip with .dim files from courses that have received my translation. Note: I also noticed Portuguese characters (àáãç, etc.) are now working in the description, which is great. But some still don't work in courses' titles. I believe it shouldn't be too hard to fix it there too. UTF-8 encoding should help fix it.

    Hi. If there were a howto (again) or a manual which explains (again) how you create your own tracks for this game, people would find a new way to enjoy Extreme Tux Racer. While the more agile will just look into the courses directory and find out on their own, a few hints will help. For example: Do not try to create a slope by applying gradients to the whole track, but design a flat track that you can incline as a whole. <-- That would have helped me 20 years ago.

    I'm really sorry if I'm sending this to the wrong location. ETR is awesome! But my keyboard is a reduced size one with awkward arrow keys. Maybe there would be a possibility at some point to add WSAD controls? Since WSAD don't seem to be used for something else important, they could probably be offered at the same time so no UI changes would be needed since it could be done without a toggle. I realize this is a volunteer project so I understand if nobody ever gets around to this, I just thought maybe...

    "New" or "Bullseye" ? The new Debian released this summer is Bookworm. Bullseye is 2.5 years old. In general, you should report such distribution packaging specific issues to the distribution in question, i.e., to Debian. In any case, I tested this on virtual machines running both bullseye (etr 0.8.0-1) and bookworm (0.8.2-1). On both it worked both from icon and terminal.

    TUpDown widgets with swapArrows=true could be set to values below their minimum when using mouse clicks. This mostly concerned numeric values such as audio volume and rendering quality in the settings menu. While this patch fixes the bug, I would suggest redesigning that widget class completely since it is pretty convoluted right now.

    This patch includes a workaround for the Windows driver bug for Intel integrated GPUs that results in objects and the player character not being rendered. Intel later fixed their driver bug, and the advice here has been to upgrade to a newer driver version that includes the fix. However, the relevant driver version doesn't officially support some older Intel iGPU generations that are still plenty powerful enough to play ETR. I've tested this on a Thinkpad x250 with a Core i5-5300U with Intel HD Graphics...

    I've never been a Windows developer, and I've used that OS very little in general. I've figured following out, but would not bet big piles of money that it's accurate. After Windows build stuff has not been touched in a long time, it's got quite outdated. Not because etr would have gone much forward, but the tools needed to build etr (installer) have been deprecated, not working on Win11, and sometimes not even available any more.
