Alright, as you may have noticed, the FRS has been updated with a RAR package of Arteast's Windows source port. The brief comments under the release itself explains what it is, and what doesn't work yet.
However, the CVS is NOT yet updated. I've unfortunately had a miserable time getting CVS clients to install properly to my computer because there is something wrong with it, so the CVS update might be a little delayed. As soon as I either (a) get this computer squared away, or (b) install CVS on another computer... I'll get the CVS updated accordingly.
Just a heads-up -- Between tonight (specifically, right now) and tomorrow evening, I'll be working to update both the File Release System and CVS with whatever the current state of the project is (based upon what the developers forward to me). As of this moment, I know for a fact that at the very least, the CVS will be updated with the most recent version of the Windows port, courtesy of Arteast. Other updates may show up as well.
If you've written to me within the last two months about joining the Evil Pandy 3D team, you should have received a response from me by now. IF YOU HAVE NOT, DON'T WORRY -- it doesn't mean "no". In fact, it probably just means that I either missed your e-mail or didn't receive it.
If that's the case -- that you e-mailed me but did NOT receive a response -- just draft the e-mail up again, with the subject line of "EVIL PANDY 3D POSITION" (or something similarly obvious and noticeable) and resend it to fzecca@nycap.rr.com. Generally speaking, I reply to ALL e-mail within 48-72 hours. The only thing that delays it is if I'm away for a few days, or if for whatever reason the e-mail is accidentally deleted or consumed by a spam filter. ... read more
My apologies to everyone for the couple months of inactivity. I was away, training for the U.S. Army, but I'm back now due to an injury. That said, I'm working on getting the project up and running.
At the time I left, we had a good-sized and well-skilled team working on the project. There were some setbacks due to computer problems but work was done and progress was slowly but surely made. At this time I am not sure how many of the original team members are still available and interested in working on this project, but I would like to ask a few things of everyone -- both former, and potential, team members:... read more
Back after a few days leave! We're still looking for some more help with graphics -- textures, characters and 3D animation.
The resource files in the file release system are the original Duke3D resources -- the ones we'll be modifying. The audio library source has also been released as a package. The complete source -- including the audio library -- is available through our CVS.
Evil Pandy 3D is starting to get into full motion now. We've brought on two new developers: Andrew Turkin (arteast) and Steven Normore (zyx321).
As always, we're always looking for more help. The more we have the more we can get done. It will be a very fun project and if you are interested, you should e-mail orcberg@users.sourceforge.net for more information.
The official public IRC for the Evil Pandy 3D Project is located on DALnet, channel #evilpandy3d.... read more
Soon, EP3D will begin outlining the structure of episodes and levels. Upon completion, the actual map design itself will begin. Anyone who is interested in assisting with the process who is not yet on the project should contact Orcberg to be added to the project: orcberg@users.sourceforge.net
The starting source for EP3D has been made available on the CVS for this project. Though Tortoise CVS is recommended, anything ought to do just fine. Click on the CVS link from SourceForge for more information, or contact me.
The starting source is simply the original source code for Duke Nukem 3D, Atomic Edition, version 1.5. This is the source we'll be working from and changing.
Just a heads-up: Most of the files for starting the project will be up and ready hopefully by this evening. I had some computer problems last night and wasn't able to get them up as originally scheduled.
The Evil Pandy 3D project, organized to revamp the Duke Nukem 3D code into a new game, has begun and is now looking for people to contribute. Coders, level designers, and graphics/audio designers are welcome. Contact project leader Orcberg at fzecca@nycap.rr.com to inquire or join the project.
