How to install Escuelas Linux 8.9 or higher on the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 15IAH8 laptop

We found that some custom procedures have to be done on this computer model to have it ready for dual-boot (that is, Windows and Linux).

Aside from the need to disable Secure Boot (which is a common step in Escuelas Linux as well as in other distributions, documented in our Installation Guide), in this laptop you will also need to disable Device Encryption first; otherwise, this computer would not boot if Secure Boot is disabled.

To turn off Device Encryption in Windows, go to Start → Settings → Privacy & Security → Device encryption → select Turn Off, and wait for it to finish the process. Then proceed to disable Secure Boot in the computer BIOS at its “Security” section.

Install our distribution as normal. When everything is finished, access your Windows OS, and then restart.

If after restarting your laptop goes directly to Windows and it does not give you the option to access Linux, you would need to access again the BIOS of this laptop and, in the “Boot” section, select the entry named “ubuntu” and place it above the “Windows boot manager” entry by pressing F6. Save the changes and everything would be fine now.

We hope that these suggestions will help you get our distribution up and running on this particular laptop. Keep in mind that Escuelas Linux does not take any responsibility for the results obtained by using our distribution or our suggestions.
