When I try to execute gledge32.exe nothing loads. Does
not even show up in Windows Task Manager\Processes.
But ...
When I change the compatibility to either Win95 or
Win98\ME it will run. The only problem here is that
when quitting the game gledge32.exe still shows as a
process in Windows Task manager\Processes. So I have
to end the task via Task Manager to run gledge.exe
again.

I really don't know what could cause the "nothing loads"
problem. My machine has XP Pro with SP2 and it works
for me.
One thing: make sure you have installed OpenAL, e.g. by
running the included OpenALwEAX installer.

I installed the latest openal and that has helped somewhat.
Edge does not seem to like being run from a batch file.
When quitting the game this does not close automatically
... c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe.
After closing down cmd.exe box manually I cannot run Edge
again because it is still in memory. Again I have to
manually end the program via task manager.

Next time I boot into Windows (normally I use Linux),
I'll try out the batch file stuff. Hopefully the same
problem will happen to me, so I can find it and fix it.

I've just tried it with a simple .bat file with this:
gledge32.exe -STRICT
and it ran OK, then exited out normally.
I'm also on XP + SP2.
Maybe you could try running EDGE with the -DEBUGFILE
parameter and post it here?

@Lobo - Here is the debug file. I still have the problem
however. i.e. I still had to manually quit cmd.exe and
remove gledge.exe via Task Manager.
