I'm guessing this is just my AGP Voodoo3 card messing
up or a cause, but I notice in Windowed mode whenever
I pick up an item that gives me invulnerablity or anything
using the ALLWHITE colourmap, that EDGE will crash
JUST before the white palette appears with a normal
Windows-style fatal op error, and the culprit seems to
be a driver for my video card. This is 1.29 Beta 2. Beta 1
didn't seem to have this problem when I used it.
Also, when I play the same Beta in fullscreen, it will
sometimes work, but sometimes EDGE will lock up
anyways, causing me to reboot. :\
If anyone might know the cause of the problem, please
let me know.

I've just tried it out on my PC in both windowed and
full-screen mode and no problems.

Please post your EDGE.LOG.
This does seem like a driver problem, though I
can't explain why it suddenly doesn't work in
Beta #2 (e.g. pickup flash -- the code for this
has not changed). Maybe the log will give a
clue.

I'll send my debug.txt instead. I compared edge.log to it, and
debug.txt has much more actual data in here. I'm also gonna
paste the error I get when it crashes, not that it'll be much
help, but maybe something will click:

As for the debug file itself, I notice that it looks like it TRIES
to initalize the palette change, but doesn't complete for some
reason, and that's what's at the end of the file. Hopefully this
can help.

The line in the crash message that says
module 3DFXOGL.DLL
shows that the problem really is in the Voodoo3
OpenGL driver. I mean it's possible that Edge
is passing a bad value somewhere, but it should
not cause a crash (or lock-up) and Edge works
fine with most other cards & drivers.
The driver you have (the log shows "June 2000")
is probably the latest one there is (3DFX went
out of business years ago). The only advice I can
offer is to ugrade your card (nVidia TNT2 works
fairly well).

I'm closing this bug as I doubt the problem lies
in EDGE itself, and we are unlikely to have
access to a Windows machine with Voodoo3
card to test for ourselves.
