This is a duplicate of bug 1354048.

Also, please do not post bug reports simply to ask a question.

This is not a duplicate of that other bug report.

This bug is pointing out that there is no real error here.

The install fails, yet there's no real error message, only that error.

I posted here as I believe this is a bug, and could not locate a more appropriate place to post.

The mod i'm having this problem with is a modified version of the Antispam for all fields 1.2.4 by Ramon Fincken found here: http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=393606 -- the mod file is attached.

The install error can be found here: http://www.yoimg.com/h/242731594-easymod-error.jpg.html

Please can you identify the error and/or explain to me why this is not a bug?
    File Added: antispam_1.2.4.mod

I don't know where you got that file, as it's different from the one downloadable from the topic, but the problem is with the MOD, not EasyMOD. The MOD doesn't follow the proper MOD format, particularly with respect to the end of it (EoM).

Like I said, I modified it to be EasyMOD compatible...

I ran the mod through the MOD validator located here: http://www.phpbb.com/mods/validator.php

    And there were no errors.

How am I supposed to know if there's a problem with the mod, if neither the validator or easymod can identify the error.

Best of all, I love the fact you have provided me with limited information on the problem with my mod, even though you know the solution.

As it seems I missed off the following:

    #
    #-----[ SAVE/CLOSE ALL FILES ]------------------------------------------
    #
    # EoM

Is it me, or should this not occur at the end of every mod anyway? Why does it need to be stated as an action? And if so, why does the validator not detect it. And why does EasyMOD not give me a real error?

First of all, the MOD Validator does say that the MOD is invalid. In fact, it is invalid in multiple ways. Run it through again and read the messages carefully. (I'll admit that some of the messages are not particularly obviously clear, but I have nothing to do with that.)

Second of all, EasyMOD is nowhere near complete. That means that not all errors are properly documented. Hence, the generically unhelpful error message that you got.

And third of all, I didn't tell you the problem with your MOD (really, I did, but whatever) because this is not the place to do so. This is obviously a support issue, but this is not a support forum. In the future, you should take your problems to Area51, where there will be plenty of people to help you with them.

As for whether or not the "SAVE/CLOSE ALL FILES" should be done at the end of every MOD is irrelevant. It's part of the MOD template and that's that.
