I am new to DWSIM. The user guide is not clear on this.
I entered the SG and the molar mass, then clicked 'characterize assay and create compounds'. Nothing happened, or at least I did not notice any. I could not see any pseudo compounds being added to the compound list.
When I tried again, there was an error message "Error saving data: An item with the same key has already been added." But I still could not find the compounds!
Will appreciate a more step-by-step guide, thanks!

Have you tried reading the PDF manuel accompanying DWSIM. Briefly there are two ways to characterize petroleum. First Characterizes the c+7 fraction. The second use a distillation of the petroleum. You can use either a D-86 distillation or a TBP curve. Obviously the more and better information the better the simulation.
