Never say never when it comes to Don't Panic! This project will remain open to development.
Newer versions will be released on a "when necessary" basis. Make sure you let me know of any features you may like to be added or any bugs that require squashing :)

After some two years of inactivity I decided it was time to restart working on one of my favorite projects. Almost an year has passed since I started to work on Don't Panic! It has been a great project to code, with countless hours spent on creating and implementing new ideas or fixing bugs. I dare to name it my most successful project to date with a total of 14 beta and stable releases. It also gave me some material rewards - prizes in different programming contests. On top of all is the experience, the joy of finally implementing some new feature or fixing a die-hard bug. It was all worth it!
But what has a beginning must have an end. And this is the end of the road for Don't Panic! It has a lot more features then I first imagined and I still have some ideas in my mind. But I consider Don't Panic! to be complete. I guess it has served its purpose. Now life must go on...
So, as of today (26/09/2007) all work on Don't Panic! is halted indefinitely!... read more

  • You can now use keywords to close/hide software! Once saved in the blacklist Don't Panic! automaticlly closes/hides the window(s) (software) which has (have) the specified keyword in the title!
  • Choose between cleanly closing a program and uncleanly (but faster) terminating a program!
  • Be aware that in some cases closing a program won't work! (ex: When having a Microsoft Word or Notepad unsaved document, it will ask if you want to save it!)
  • Mute speakers (Master Volume) when hiding programs
  • Check for updates automaticlly at Don't Panic! startup (run WebUpdate)

• MAJOR BUG FIX: Blocking Task Manager doesn't work in Windows Vista (because of it's new security features) causing an error in Don't Panic! That is why in Windows Vista that function is now deactivated!
• MAJOR BUG FIX: Setting transparency to 100% would totally hide the Panic Mode; users could not press the Panic Button, some even reported having to terminate Don't Panic! from the Task Manager!
• MAJOR BUG FIX: Pressing the Panic button when Don't Panic! didn't have any software to hide resulted in the imposibility to show it again! (the return HotKey wouldn't work)
• Recompiled help (with a small update to reflect changes)
