This is a maintenance release.
This release contains an important bugfix and other small changes.

• Fixed issue with reindexing moved or modified documents and duplicate entries in the search result. But the error was so serious that unfortunately all indexes have to be recreated in order to remove the duplicate entries. Sorry.

This is a major release after a long time.

DocSearcher now has a new CVS module.
The new module is "docsearcher".

With this release a slew of GUI bugfixes have arrived.

There is also a change in how the new search index wizard works: advanced options now include three types of settings, instead of two:

1. Local Files index
2. Web index
3. CDROM index (for creating subsequently searchable CDs)

DocSearcher is a search tool.

Think of it as both a personal "googler" for regular end users and a way to manage a lucene driven search engine (servlet) for developers / sys admin types.

This release has several useful changes:

1. reports on DocSearcher Servlet log files; summarizing such information as what was most frequently search (words) and
what searches produced poor results

2. reports for meta data in docsearcher-lucene indexes: this enables administrators to determine which documents have poor quality meta data; hopefully allowing them to easily rectify the situation and improve overall search performance... read more

DocSearcher 1.0 is available.

DocSearcher is a search tool for searching files on a PC. It can index and search Open Office and Start Office files, MS Office Files, RTF, text, HTML, PDF and Java Source files.

It uses Lucene for indexing and searching, POI, and PDF Box APIs to work its magic.

If you have ever need to search these kind of files from a Windows, Linux, Mac or Unix platform - all you need is DocSearcher and the Java 2 runtime (version 1.3x or later) and voila - you can now find stuff!
