Support for importing/exporting OpenDoc would be lovely. Create the outline in Dockboard, push it straight in to OpenOffice.org Writer. Get an OpenDoc from a partner, pull it in to Dockboard and see the highlights in outline-format - sweet.

Actually, I'm wondering if another file format is really necessary. Is there a way to use OpenDoc as the native file format for Dockboard??

I'll take these things one at a time. I do have plans to allow export to OpenDocument formatter in addition to PDF. It is just a matter of learning the format. That will probably appear in two or three releases from now, although I have a few other things I want to finish before I get to it.

Importing from other formats is a possible feature, but it is a little while in the distance. The reason for that is because it is a lot more difficult to import than export because you have to accommodate for everything in the document.

I created a separate file format for a few reasons. The first is that the Dockboard document is a lot simpler than OpenDocument. It organizes single lines of text, so there is no need for a huge document spec. Also, I want to make the distinction between the two types of documents. However, don't worry ... I will allow exporting to ODF soon. I just need to work on a few other things first.
