Adjusting your Buddy

Robert Reinert

When your buddy is running, you'll notice that it is at the center of the screen and is floating. You can change this by clicking on the buddy's body. This action opens the buddy's toolbox, an editor to edit all the settings of your desktop buddy. The main tab has most of the adjustable options, but more are spread out among the pages. These include physics, movement, and speech. Simply check the boxes of the option you want changed and press the "Apply All" button.

The movement tab controls how the buddy will move and its location. This sets the speed for both the manual movement and the automatic movement. Also on the tab is a virtual keypad which can be used to manually control your buddy. To easily use the virtual keyboard, click on one of the virtual keypad's keys and use your arrow keys on your keyboard to switch between the virtual keys.

If your buddy we to ever get lost, you can easily call it back to you. Under the movement tab, there are also two buttons labels "Rest Location" and "Choose Location". Use these buttons to set the buddy at a defined location using x and y coordinate points.

Speech is another setting you can adjust. Type in 5 phrases into the text boxes and press "Apply All" button. The buddy will say one of them randomly when you click on their head, or when Smart A.I. is on. If the sounds are turned on, then your buddy will make a talking sound whenever a speech bubble is made. You can turn off this option in the toolbox under the "Management" tab.
