#2 EQ sliders cause static/noise

When using the EQ sliders in the mixer I get unwanted static/noise. I
have included an MP3 file in which you can hear the distortion at
approximately the 4 second mark. These are the steps I followed to
create the unwanted distortion.

* Cue track to deck 1
* Press play
* With EQ checked, drag the M slider back and forth.

I am using the internal sound card of an 800mhz iBook G4 with OS
X 10.4.2
