Today I delete the wiki installation. The SPAM was overwhelming and the wiki wasn't really used. SF provides a good wiki service for all projects, so maybe I'm going to use that. Until then, there's only the project page and the weblog left.

Another good news for all you Crisoft Ricette lovers: I (schwarzer_peter, as my SF login calls me) have been added as a developer to this project.

I really want to get the development on, as lorello doesn't have enough time to catch up with it. I take the sourcecode of the release 1.0pre15b and as a first step clean up the code, get myself used to the coding standard and then rewrite the frontend pages to match XHTML/CSS standard. After some months of silence, I come back with some (I hope) good news.
It seems that I have gained a little time to work again on this project. I will begin in a week or two, completely retructure the project and trying to release a STABLE and DEFINITIVE 1.0 version with full theme support and user management features as soon as possible.
Anyone who wants to cooperate with the project (I need help for themes, especially, and translations) is always welcome!

I'm very disappointed to write this, but I haven't any alternative.
I'm going to shut off this project, since I have absolutely NO time to continue development.

I will close definitely this project on Dec. 31 2004 if I won't get any proposal.

This project is not dead, I am now trying to restart development after a long pause. On Nov. 14th my first son is born, I preferred to help my wife during last months of pregnancy and for the first months of life of my daughter than coding for CrisoftRicette. Don't expect a release in a few week since I have yet to begin to work at it, but I want to inform you about that.
Maybe in 2 months you'll get a new prerelease with LOTS of new features (yes, even themes support!) and bugfixes.

Six months passed after last 1.0pre15b release and unfortunately my spare time is strongly reduced. So the development of CrisoftRicette suffered about this...
By the way from time to time I can work on it, and you will see small progress if you download the CVS tarball.
I am working now on two main goals for next 1.0pre16 release:
1) completely separate PHP code from HTML, looking forward for a final 1.0 release with themes support
2) bug fixing and adding latest features. See TODO file for details: the list is a little bit huge so I plan to release as soon as I can (end September-mid October) a fresh new 1.0pre16 to give the opportunity to test a new version, and work hard for a late 2003 1.0pre17 release.... read more

With CVS you can always download the latest updates to this application and test all new features. Please note that CVS is ALWAYS to be considered as UNSTABLE and not suitable for production environments, since it may contain lots of bugs and broken code.

Long time has passed from last pre15 release of CrisoftRicette 1.0 because I had (and still have) very few spare time.
So the development/bugfix stage for the new 1.0pre16 release is very very slow. I hope to release a new test version in 3-4 weeks, but don't take this term too seriously... ;-)
By the way I plan to start CVS next week and uploading at the actual state to let you test it before a new prerelease.
CVS will be of course will follow development/code/bugfix phase.

Early this morning I was forced to release a new bug fixing release called 1.0pre15b.
Some users reported me two severe bugs into recipe.php and admin_07import.php scripts. I have fixed these; in the meantime I have added in search.php a routine to count number of recipes matching to search terms.
Bugged packages of 1.0pre15 and 1.0pre15a were removed from download filelist.
If you have downloaded 1.0pre15 or 1.0pre15a YOU ARE URGED to download new 1.0pre15b release.

1.0pre15 should be a bugfix release, but one new bug was unfortunately introduced.
login.php script is BUGGED and is not usable (since an if cycle is broken). I have already fixed it and will release a pre15a in a couple of hours.
PLEASE DO NOT DOWNLOAD 1.0pre15 BUT WAIT FOR 10.pre15a!

Another CrisoftRicette 1.0 prerelease, numbered 15, is out. This release was necessary to fix a severe bug during installation, together with some other small bugs.
I added also a new feature: administrator can add image/video to recipe without them.
Please expect a pre16 before last pre99 prerelease.

A new prerelease of upcoming CrisoftRicette 1.0 is out: it's pre14.

I wanted this pre14 as the last prerelease before a release candidate: but I prefer to release another pre15 in order to add some little new features and to rewrite some snippets of code. So you may expect a new 1.0pre15 in 2-3 weeks.

After three long week s from last prerelease I can finally make available for download the pre13 version of CrisoftRicette.
The main new feature is a new internationalization scheme. I decided to leave gettext support since not all PHP installations are compiled with this feature on: the new scheme is fully portable without problem.
Even the installation procedure is internationalized.
Note for upgrading: please install this prerelease in a fresh new directory since all scripts were heavily rewritten.
BTW you can use your existing database without problem.
Please DO NOT COPY your old configuration file (even INSTALL says so, it's a mistake!!! sorry for it).

I am now working to a more portable tranlsation scheme for CrisoftRicette (in order to avoid gettext, very useful and clean but it needs special PHP extensions not always available on webservers) and completely rewriting the message file.
So please stop if you are already translating messages.po file and recontact me.

New 1.0pre12 prerelease of CrisoftRicette is finally out. This release has some significantly new features and bugfixes.
Here small details:
* NEW: backup entire database to a SQL file
* NEW: restore entire database from previously generated SQL file
* NEW: admin menu on all admin section pages
* NEW: import recipes from dbricette.it/Bekon Idealist Natural and MealMaster file format
* NEW: utility to optimize (compact) database tables
New menu for admin section and some changes in HTML layout.

This version has been developed and tested with the new PHP 4.3.0 release.

Finally, after four weeks from last prerelease, I have released CrisoftRicette 1.0pre11. This release contains a lot of bug fixes and a new installation procedure that solved some issues of the old one. Of course there are new features: you can import recipes from your old 0.7.x release and export entire collection of recipe or a single one to some different file formats, including MealMaster and dbricette.it software.
French support language (even if partial, same as italian)has been added, even if I think that I may switch from gettext to another translation scheme in the next future BEFORE 1.0 final release. Note that non-gettext version is not available for this release (and will never be).
Software status has been changed from alpha to beta since I think that it's now a little more stable and I encourage all 0.7.x users to move to 1.0 branch. Please note that you have to choose a DIFFERENT database name if you want to mantain 0.7.x and 1.0preX on the same machine.
Last but not least I plan only 4 prereleases before 1.0 final: you can read about it in TODO file.

The "Santa Lucia" prerelease 1.0pre10 is out in both versions, standard and non-gettext, downloadable here at sourceforge.net.
Two main new features:
- configuration can be modified through admin area
- PDF generation is now available for all since it's now done through fpdf class by Olivier Plathey
Some bugs were fixed and even some code was cleaned up.

Again a new prerelease for CrisoftRicette 1.0: the ninth.
Lots of new features and bugfixes:
the admin section is quite complete, you can fully administer your database, modifying all data and changing admin username and password.

I have just yet released the non-gettext version for CrisoftRicette 1.0pre8 package. Please take note that may be the last non-gettext release before 1.0 final because I want to concentrate myself on standard version developing.
I invite you to test it and to report me all possible problems you see.
BTW, 1.0 final will have standard and non-gettext versions.

I have just yet released a new prerelease version called 1.0pre8.
In this 1.0pre8 release some bugs in gettext code were fixed.
New features: all browse lists are now displayed in tables, with alternate colors for table rows. The same output is done also for single recipe.
You can browse database also by recipe beginning letter.

Please take note that the nongettext version release has been postponed, since I have to solve some problems specifically in this package. I hope to release it beginning of next week.
I have to tell you that 1.0pre8 will be the last prerelease in nongettext branch, since I prefer to concentrate my efforts developing the standard one.
The next nongettext release will be made (of course after this 1.0pre8) together with final 1.0.

Yeah, even 1.0pre7 has bugs... that's the main reason why it's a prerelease :-)
Unfortunately, the standard release package has a configuration file in it. Please delete it BEFORE start up application for the first time. I simply forgot to remove the test configuration file before creating the package... urgh...
Regarding the non-gettext package, there is an error at line 148 of install.php: you should remove a (literally, double quotes should be removed!) ".(" sequence to get the script work. This stupid error is here because the non-gettext branch creation script did not worked as expected...
These two issues will be fixed in upcoming (maybe tomorrow) 1.0pre8 release.

The 7th 1.0 prerelease is now out: the main new feature is search function. You can now search the database for one or more keywords, and even search on multiple fields.
Some bugs were fixed and all filenames are now lowercase in order to prevent problems caused by FTP transfer from Windows 9x/ME to Unix machines.
There is also a new non-gettext release, useful to test this application with PHP installation without gettext() support.
Please note that non-gettext releases are even more experimental code than standard one, since I am now testing a script that automatically removes internationalization code.

Feedbacks about these two new releases are welcome!

Some small bugs have been discovered in 1.0pre6 and older releases, regarding installation under Windows.
PHP 4.2.2 installed from full zip package (with lots of extension) lacks of support for ctype_alnum() function used in install.php: next 1.0pre7 release will fix it.
The second problem (it's not a bug, but a Windows issue):
if you install CrisoftRicette under Windows9x/ME then you upload files to a Unix system you will get a require() error for CrisoftLib.php and CrisoftRicette.ini.php files
when you try to run the application from remote system.
This happens because Windows9x/ME doesn't handle correctly mixed case filenames and ftping from Win will lose uppecase letters. This will be fixed in next 1.0pre7 release using only lowercase in filenames.
Let's see the good news...
I have tested all installation stage on a Windows 98 machine and I can confirm that it works fine, except from ctype_alnum() problem, rewiriting configuration file if you install a new release over a previous one.
Last but not least, the upcoming 1.0pre7 release will feature a database search system: you may search one or more terms over one or multiple fields.
1.0pre7 will be out not later than friday, November 14th.
