Dear Open Source developer I am doing a research project on "Fun and Software Development" in which I kindly invite you to participate. You will find the online survey under http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/. The questionnaire consists of 53 questions and you will need about 15 minutes to complete it. With the FASD project (Fun and Software Development) we want to define the motivational significance of fun when software developers decide to engage in Open Source projects. What is special about our research project is that a similar survey is planned with software developers in commercial firms. This procedure allows the immediate comparison between the involved individuals and the conditions of production of these two development models. Thus we hope to obtain substantial new insights to the phenomenon of Open Source Development. With many thanks for your participation, Benno Luthiger PS: The results of the survey will be published under http://www.isu.unizh.ch/fuehrung/blprojects/FASD/. We have set up the mailing list fa...@we... for this study. Please see http://fasd.ethz.ch/qsf/mailinglist_en.html for registration to this mailing list. _______________________________________________________________________ Benno Luthiger Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich 8092 Zurich Mail: benno.luthiger(at)id.ethz.ch _______________________________________________________________________ |

Hi, I've just registered with the Sourceforge Donation program, so any of my loyal users who feel they've enjoyed using ComicCollection can donate some money for it's development with PayPal. Come on! :) Just go to: http://sourceforge.net/donate/index.php?group_id=62256 Thanks, Robert Synnott. |

Hey, people, First off, there's a new version of ComicCollection out now; you can get it at http://comiccollection.sf.net. It has various improvements; the main one is that it works with a slightly wider range of comics. Upgrading should just be a case of replacing the .jar If you have a UNIX or UNIXy system, you should consider using http://c-comiccollect.sf.net; it's much nicer. Bob. -- Robert Synnott <rob...@ei...> http://rsynnott.f2g.net And now, a quote: "The Bible contains six admonishments to homosexuals and three hundred sixty two admonishments to heterosexuals. That doesn't mean that God doesn't love heterosexuals. It's just that they need more supervision." -Lynne Lavner |

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- ** Reply to message from Robert Synnott <rob...@ei...> on Tue, 11 Mar 2003 19:43:14 +0000 Hi Bob! Thanks for the answer :-) > By the way, there will soon be a C version of this (with > GTK frontend). It won't require use of an SQL DB. Oh noooooo! I'am using OS/2 and have MySQL running for MyvolDep (Stock informations), JMDB (Movie Database), money@home (very simple home finance program). The last two are Java progs. so please let the java-version live... . -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hi! First thanks for this nice app ;-) I'am using it to view the following comic: Garfield-2003', 'http://images.ucomics.com/comics/ga/YYYY/ga03MMDD as you can see the image has the year only with two number 03 not four 2003 so i have to use several database entries to catch the years 2001 to 2003. So would it be possible to make also "YY" an not only YYYY work? Next would be to store the images with their original name and maybe in additional folders (here e.g. the folder "2003" with the picture "ga030310.gif") but at least in seperate folders for separate comics "Garfileld", "Flintstones". I would also like to see the possibility of deletion for whole comic entry like "Dilbert", "Garfiled-2003" single picture an simple method to add / edit a comic entry (and not have to write a real SQL command at mysql - commandline) then there should be a better indicator of beeing on- or offline BTW: does cc gets new pictures automatically when online? button to set the actual date, or better a fully flavoured calendar :-) there are nice open-source solutions http://www.toedter.com/data/java/JCalendarBean/index.html more entryfields like appearing persons (any idea what else could be interesting?)
