I consider Chat Everywhere to have achieved a 1.0.0 state, both in stability and functionnality, after 5 years of development !
This is a great milestone, but nowhere near the end ! Expect added functionnality in the future ! I think the two major goals for 2.0 are multi-room support and moderation, feel free to help !
A weekly release, mainly because of a lot of server changes :
- new command : gag (allows to globally ignore an annoying user)
- bans and gags can now have an expiration time
- new directive : AllowGuestLogin. If set to "no", only authentified users can log-in.
- RestrictCommand : arbitrary command restrictions.
- AllowNickChar and DenyNickChar to change the list of allowed characters in a nick without compiling the code :-)
- configuration file simplifications and code clean-up.
- updated translation files
- some more bug fixes
Here is a new release of Chat Everywhere, primarily for stabilization / robustness purposes. A lot of MSIE compatbility fixes have been committed, and the server has been thoroughly tested on Linux, Solaris, HP-UX and even MacOS X.
There is some exciting new things though : check out that brand new flashy Swing client :-)
Stay tuned !

Happy downloading !

Hi! The Chat Everywhere project is internationalizing. I'm looking for volunteers to translate the messages in other languages. The already supported languages are English, Polonese and French. If you want to help, mail me at alexis@bernis.org!
