#6 Importing PDB file won't color by chain

Using the browser version, I can successfully illustrate using a PDB ID, however the 'color by chain' option isn't working. Even if I select just a few chains from the structure, the image is created, but no color. Am I missing a step?

Hi Sarah,

Its actually a very subtle effect. You will notice some of the chains are slightly darker grey. That way when you color the molecule its the same color but the alternate chains are slightly darker. We could do a feature request to make the chains colors more distinct or let you color them independently.
