Slackware

The build of CDE on Slackware has only been tested on Slackware 15.0. It may or may not work on other versions. Here are the modifications needed to get CDE built and started.

I found I needed the following packages to build

slackpkg install subversion git serf apr-util sqlite  g++ gcc icu4c cyrus-sasl apr ca-certificates openssl perl dcron make guile gc libffi libmpc glibc motif kernel-headers bc libXt libX11 xproto libSM libICE printproto libXau curl bison m4 ksh93 libXdmcp libXinerama libtirpc libXext libxcb libjpeg xbitmaps libXmu libXp libXft libXrender harfbuzz fontconfig libXScrnSaver scrnsaverproto libXfont libfontenc ncompress mkfontdir mkfontscale fontsproto tcl libXaw flex autoconf automake libtool utempter bdftopcf patch rpcbind xset xsetroot freetype xextproto libunistring binutils

But even that is not a sufficient set to run the X server itself
