Lubuntu 20.04 uses SDDM for its display manager & I think maybe CID doesn't make the necessary changes to allow logging in as an active directory user. Is that correct? Is there a workaround? Thanks!!!

I believe that SDDM does not support a configuration like manual login in its default theme. Perhaps this can be done by installing a specific theme project. I would recommend that you replace it with LightDM.

Thanks Eduardo. Before contacting you I was trying to get lightDM to work on Lubuntu 20.04 without success. When I use dpkg-reconfigure to switch to lightdm after it has been installed I get an error that says "Failed to start session" when trying to login. I'll keep trying though.

I figured it out Eduardo. I had installed lightdm but I guess dependencies for lightdm don't include lightdm-gtk-greeter & lightdm-gtk-greeter-settings. After doing more research & seeing that those weren't installed I installed them & now I can login with my admin account. I'm not sure if both of the additional packages were needed but with them installed it does work & now because I have lightdm installed I shouldn't have any trouble with CID. Thanks for the listening ear.

You are welcome!
Yes, the CID handles LightDM better because it already makes the necessary settings to allow or optimize the login of external users.
Glad you solved your problem! Hug!

Good afternoon friend, could you share how you made the change in the SDDM theme, I have the same problem, I installed LightDM, the screen of another user appears, but it does not log in.
Entered the normal domain, there is no error with the CID.

My solution to this problem was to use a SDDM theme that allowed entering both the username & password. I was then able to login using SDDM
