I'm not sure if I understand you correctly. The drop down near the sound layer label sets the default layer height and all layer heights. I don't see that as being a good place for it at all. While it wasn't what I was originally thinking, I'd place it in the layer's automation drop down itself. My first thought was to have this functionality available as a button of sorts in the instrument/effect editing window, and to have it affect *all* sound layers.
