Hi Michael, Your use-case scenario is the reason I wanted to make the checkbox option so that one could disable resolution checking if desired, otherwise, use the resolution (and stair-step as Will pointed out) by default. For instance, with MIDI values, one would definitely want it stepped to whole numbers, but for something like 0-1.0 float values, you might want to be able to set arbitrary values within that range. The way I'm heading now is to support the resolution by default--which as Will pointed out would mean stepped values in the automation and not just snapping--but then to also have the option to ignore the resolution should one choose.
