HI Will, > If you have access to a Windows system, I'd recommend grabbing Psycle > from http://psycle.pastnotecut.org/. I downloaded and took a look today; the manual is very helpful and working with help understand a good bit. I've been sketching out some code for it and will be working with it over the next week. > Would you also be able to set a common template for all tracks (in one > tracker object)? There's a template in the Piano Roll, perhaps can do something like that, though I am thinking it might be easier to use by having options for cloing tracks or copying settings; would that work for you? > > I'd want to add the ability to tie notes together by pressing the > > minus key. THere's a feature in Csound for tied notes; I wrote an article about it in the Csound Journal here: http://www.csounds.com/journal/2005fall/tiedNotes.html It does require users to set up the instrument, but tying notes together by using negative p3 is a built in feature of Csound, and is the reason why many opcodes have a skip initialization feature. > Well, I don't think it's csound's job to manage a sample library. Managing no, but as a user, we have very little besides the fluid opcodes in terms of access to readymade sample libraries for use within the context of Csound. We could use MIDI or OSC to communicate to other programs, but then we don't have a Rewire type setup to bring the sounds back in to Csound in a sample accurate manner, and we also lose project integrity in the sense that one project file can have all settings together. I was thinking of putting in some kind of host featres to hold VST's or DSSI's, but I'm not sure that's the way to go. I've been wrapping my head around a means to get access to samples and have a decent amount of control over it; anyways, still need to sort the ideas out. For the audio player in file chooser, could you add a feature request to the Sourceforge page? And by your request are you saying to have an audio file component in the file chooser to auditioni sounds before choosing, or a BSB audio file widget, or maybe both? > One behavior of Psycle's that I really like is that notes on one > channel are held until there is either another note is triggered on > that channel or the channel is explicitly silenced with an 'off' line, > which is placed with the '1' key. This should be doable. BTW: is this a common tracker convention? Just curi= ous. Thanks! steven |
