Hi Jan Jacob, You can increase the total amount of ram Blue can use by editing the blue.conf file. For example, I have the blue.app in my /Applications folder, so the file to edit would be: /Applications/blue.app/Contents/Resources/blue/etc/blue.conf in there is a string like: -J-Xmx768m which you can modify to something like: -J-Xmx1024m or -J-Xmx1536m That would allow Blue to use much more memory. That aside, I have been feeling lately that there must be some issue with memory and that I need to investigate. I think the above might be a good temporary solution, but if you could file a bug and maybe post a .blue file to use for testing, I will try to investigate further. Thanks (and hope the above change helps!) steven On Fri, Jan 31, 2014 at 4:34 PM, Jan Jacob Hofmann <jj...@so...> wrote: > Dear list, dear Steven > > working with blue 2.5.0 on mac OSX 10.6.8 I do experience quite often crashes without a warning while real-time rendering. Mostly it occurs if several sounds have to be rendered at the same time. As the crashes are quite irregular and it even often works fine for a few times I do wonder if it could have something to do with the RAM available for blue. Probably my project needs quite a lot of it and I do wonder if I should have to raise the limit of RAM to be taken by blue somewhere? > > Freezing Soundfiles or rendering to disk - by the way - is not a solution as it leads to freezing the whole application right after finishing the task. > > Or maybe I simply have to upgrade my OS *now* to be able to run the current version of blue? > > All the best, > > Jan Jacob > > > > > sound | movement | object | space > sonic architecture | site: http://www.sonicarchitecture.de > spatial electronic composition | higher order ambisonic music > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > WatchGuard Dimension instantly turns raw network data into actionable > security intelligence.
