Hi Jim, I went back and forth with Tito on the csound-devel mailing list. What I observed just now was that I was getting breakups when using PortAudio in callback mode (I believe that's the default if you just specify -+rtaudio=pa, or if you don't specify anything it defaults to portaudio anyways, and then from there defaulting to portaudio callback). Could you try using portaudio blocking interface instead? This can be done in blue program options (Tools->Options, then Realtime Render, then choosing from there pa_bl). This can also be set in your .csoundrc file or used on the commandline with "-+rtaudio=pa_bl". Hopefully that will get you steady audio.
