>I think that asking requests is perfect for this thread! It's good to >know what everyone is thinking and how they're using blue. yes it's great that Blue can be used with such a large number of different of compositional approaches! That makes me realize that when i try to explain what i want from the program i have to make it very clear to you and make clear my personal use of Blue. >Regarding the muting/unmuting, there is the Audition soundObjects feature which works someone in reverse: one selects objects one wishes to hear, press ctrl-shift-A (or selects the audition soundObjects menu option) and blue will render only what is selected. I think it's a faster way to select and hear just what you want. Do you think it'd still be useful to have a mute option? Yes you are right. I am used to Cubase where i looped a fragment somewhere in the score and muted/unmuted parts. Then i would enlarge the loop to say 12 bars so that i could get some feeling if the balance of the quantity of sounds was okay, then enlarge the loop even greater to say 30 seconds to listen to all the sounds in time. So that's where this muting option of mine comes from. In Blue i make loops and can indeed select/deselect the Objects to Audition. So the mute option is not useful. >As for freezing, I think the ideas you have lean more towards having a "Convert to AudioFile" menu option that would render to disk and then use that as an audiofile. I imagine if the process is such that you want to then further process the audiofile by cutting it up, then this would be a destructive edit, and the best option at this point is if one wants to keep a copy of the original source material would be just to have a copy in the SoundObject Library. I can imagine one puts material in the library, makes an Instance object of it, pastes into the score and experiments, then "Converts to AudioFile" the instances, then proceeds to experiment. If that makes sense, I can look at the convert to AudioFile option rather soon as I think it would not take too long. Yes that is a good solution. Do you think it is possible to be able to make good cuts in an AudioFile in Blue?
